Boradway shows - good venue

The building itself is historical. There are ongoing renovations.The seats are narrow and leg room is limited. The price of the tickets is far more expensive than they should be for the seating there. The shows are broadway caliber, so cant complain about that. Overall, good experience.. As expected, the drinks are priced expensively.

Nice theater for musicals

Parking in the Paca St garage allows patrons to take the elevator from your car directly into the lobby of the theater. So very easy. Theater is historic and beautiful. I am about 6 feet 3 inches tall, and I find the seating to be tight. My wife is shorter and does not have a problem. Those at or above 6 feet 3 inches may have troubles with fitting in your seat.

The staff is always kind and helpful.

Do note that tickets listed as obstructed views can have VERY obstructed views. You get a cheaper price for the ticket but it might come at the cost of missing lots of action at the corners of the stage. Being an older theater, you can tell that speakers were added after the seating was installed long ago, and now there are more obstructions that in the past.

Felt totally safe and seats were comfortable

Being an old theatre I was worried about the seats but we were in row L lower right orchestra and the seats there are a little more comfortable than a standard movie theatre seat. I’m 5’9 and had plenty of leg room. The bathrooms had attendants keeping it clean the whole time. I was a little disappointed that during intermission they didn’t have enough bartenders to keep up, so many of us were slamming a drink as to not get shut out of the show. When the show was over we called for an Uber. They have a special place to wait for rides outside the theatre. Our hotel wasn’t far so it was a short ride which is why I think we had several drivers cancel on us. The Hippo security team, all of them, stayed outside obviously waiting for us to leave safely. That was so amazing. I was so grateful for that. The area is very well lit and had a visible police presence. I would not hesitate to see a show at this theatre!

1st season ticket holder experience. Personable and helpful staff. Lovely theater. Excellent acoustics. Some lighting and set supports actually blocked the view from our left orchestra seats. Ask questions before you select seats or stay away from end-aisle seats.
Wine $10 or double for $20 in clear 16oz cup. All drinks can be consumed inside theater. Parking nearby for $20 is convenient but if you arrive earlier, around 6, we scored street parking for free!

Don’t pay to be miserable!

The seats are horrible! Your knees are right up against the seat in front of you, by the end of the show my legs were cramping. Seating worse than an airline!
They continue to seat people after the show has begun even though they send me emails and recorded phone calls telling me late arrivals will not be seated.
The heat last night was unbearable! Every person you could see were fanning themselves with the program. Asked an usher if they could turn off the heat and they said no, they were miserably hot too.

The elevators - 2 very slow elevators that service a 10 story garage. Last night it too 44 minutes to get to our car. If it wasn’t so dangerous in that part of Baltimore we would park at an outside garage but, that’s not an option.

We have decided not to renew our subscription.

Terrible Hippodrome Seating Experience for the General population, a hazard to your health!

Remove every other row in the main seating area and expand seating. The excellent 2.5 hour play was overpowered by the sardine seats, a true fire hazard and health concern.

So Much Kindness

Our family saw Hamilton here and the contracted security company was amazing. They helped our disabled aunt with unloading and loading from the car, finding her seat and went above and beyond to help park the car. Kindness like this made n amazing show and venue even better.

First visit since just before covid

Today's matinee of Hamilton was my first visit back since right before civid started. Everything was familiar and the attendees were in a happy mood. Since this was a special offering aside from the regular season, I was lucky that there was an empty seat next to me. Normally the seats are a bit 'cozy' so having that extra room was a treat. Ushers and security staff were polite and well organized as usual. The classic theatre is well maintained and beautiful. Acoustics were great. Of course the production itself was exciting and perfectly executed.
