We drove down a long road to the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery only to find no fish and a sign that said all the fish had already been released. We were there during visiting hours, but there wasn't a single person anywhere. We wish we would have gone to the State Fish Hatchery instead.

Spent some time here. Sat at picnic table to eat our lunch and watch pelicans and geese swimming on the pond. Looked at the fish display, and fed the fish.

We came here expecting to see things but a lot of the area was closed off to the public. We did see some sturgeon in a very narrow tank. The lakes were very nice nd people fishing and relaxing, nice to see

We stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon & were the only ones here other than one employee who was friendly and provided some helpful info but he couldn't talk long as he explained they're presently understaffed as they switch from fed to state management. There was no water in the main outdoor fish runs but the employee explained they would be filled with steelhead smolts soon. The white sturgeon in the little concrete stream were pretty cool. He said they'd been in there for over 25 years! Some nice shaded picnic spots. Some informational reader boards but they were looking rather worn out & faded. Other than that not a whole lot to look at.

Nothing spectacular here. Lots of long tubs with fish in them. Most interesting thing is feeding the fish.

Trash cans need to be chained & with lids to prevent animals getting into it & the wind knocking it over. Big beautiful sturgeon swimming in trash in the holding ponds. So disappointed to see STATE WMA in such unkempt conditions. We spent our visit picking up trash.

We were driving along US30 visiting the various units of Thousand Springs State Park and we tried to visit the hatchery. We turned in at the sign and drove on a gravel road into an area where there were tanks covered with chain-link and netting (to keep birds from eating the fish). There were a few picnic tables and a restroom, but the area seemed deserted. We did see a trough that had some trout in it, but there was not much to see and we only stayed a few minutes. We also saw a pond with parking and a dock that looked it might be open for fishing. When we were trying to exit to the north to get to E3000S, we stumbled upon the National Hatchery which is located a little to the east. That facility seemed a little more welcoming to visitors, but again, there was no activity. It was July and quite hot out, so perhaps we just went at the wrong time of year.

We were off the beaten path west of Twin Falls and chanced upon the national steelhead fish hatchery. It was a quite preserve with tons of fish and even the fabled White Strugeon. Grea place for outdoor education and even a picnic pending normal weather.

In mid-May no fish on the spot except two sturgeons and a few lost trouts swimming in a little basin for the pleasure of the visitors. Did not justify the trip. All fish had already been shipped to various rivers and hatcheries all over the Northwest, we were told.

This fish hatchery is old and not very well kept. The display fish were OK, but not nearly as good as one up by Riggins Idaho. Some fishing around in ponds nearby and it closes on Oct 31 to all fishing.

An educational virtual tour and self-guided tours are available at the Hatchery. See a video of the Hatchery at the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce. The Hatchery grounds are open from 7 AM until 6 PM daily. Limited guided group tours are available. Call the Hatchery to schedule at 208-837-4896.
