Awesome hike up Mt Agung with guide Made.
The weather came in and unfortunately didn't get to see the views from the top but still loved it.
I highly recommend his services. Best hiking guide in Bali. I wish him all the success and happiness.

My sister and I had the pleasure of having Made guide us for a sunrise hike up Mt Batur. He is a very skilled hiker, and has a great deal of wisdom and knowledge about the land and culture. Made was also very accomodating and kind, having prepared breakfast and served us coffee on a platter at the top of the mountain (it’s the little things go a long way sometimes!). Looking at other guided groups hiking the mountain, I feel as though these are things that make him stand out.
I would certainly recommend a local guide, and Made in particular, to anybody wanting to explore Mt Batur and the surrounding areas. Not only are you supporting the local economy, but the whole journey is made very smooth, and a good amount would be learnt about the place you are visiting. Indeed, it is also forbidden to climb some of the more treacherous mountains (eg, Mt Agung) without a guide. If that isn’t enough, the whole service is very well priced, including a taxi service to and from accomodation (we stayed in sidemen), as well as a breakfast made with love on top of the mountain.
The hike up Mt Batur was beautiful, with a stunning view of the caldera and a sunrise over Lombok, albeit being quite a busy route. However, our experience was enriched by having Made accompany us. When I return to Bali I will be contacting him again to climb the more challenging Mt Agung.

Made is an absolute legend. He guided me to the top of Mount Agung. He was always very patient and explained things clearly. He is very friendly and I enjoyed his company throughout. He brought food and hot drinks with him too. I definitely recommend him for anyone wanting to climb Mount Agung.

We had the most incredible experience hiking with our guide Made. Him and his brother were so patient and friendly with our questions. Definitely a highlight in my travels in Indonesia. The views are more amazing in person. Mount Agung is truly magical!

Amazing experience with lovely people who knew the mountain very well and insured we had a lovely hike! They even picked us up and dropped us off again. 10/10 would do it again!

Hiking the Mont Agung is an incredible experience. The sky is amazing by night there and the sunrise at the summit is magical. Made answered all our questions before the hike, he’s very kind, calm and interesting. He made sure that our hike was secure and at the right intensity for us. We are grateful for this incredible hike and for our five stars guide !

A few days ago we hiked to the lower summit of mount agung (crater rim).
That was one of our most exciting experiences of our life.
Made, our guide, was so kindfull, motivating, friendly and give us a lot of Information about bali and the indonesian culture. It was just great with him.
The hike was quiet difficult (we are medium experienced hikers in the european alpes). Hiking during the night with just a few hours sleep is something different. We were picked up at 0.00 Am and started the hike at 2.00 Am. Better is starting at 1.30 Am. We needed 4 hours to get up. The first 2 hours you hike in the jungle, the other 2 hours you hike through scree with climbing parts. It is always steep. We needed a lot of short breaks for breathing. Some groups didn‘t reach the summit and return. We had several moments thinking we wont made at either or miss the sunset. Especially the last 45 minutes are extremely challening. We staggered more than hiking up.
But all overexertion was worthy. We reached the crater punctually for sun rise thanks to our guide Made. And what kind of an outstanding view! Really breathtaking sunrise. We also were very lucky with the weather. However, make sure you have a warm cap, sweater and rain/wind coat with you. Some friendly monkeys visited the crater as well. Made gave us a good lunch box at the top. With some hot coffee, sandwiches etc. He also took great Photos of us.
Hiking down was much easier than expected. You need to stay concentrated and to be careful by placing your feets. Made show us how to walk without falling. We needed 3 Hours for return.
All in all we were very happy that we did it. Please take for your own security a guide with you. A guide gives you everything you need. Headlamps, lunchbox and a really helpful hiking stick ( was my saviour). Furthermore the mountain ist holy for balinese people. By taking a guide you show respect and give them the possibilty to bring an offering for you. Made was so kindful that he carried our bag the last meters while we were fighting to reach the summit.

It’s hard to write a review that accurately depicts how much this experience meant to me climbing up Mount Agung (low peak) with the wonderful human ‘Made’.
I’d never climbed a mountain let alone a volcano before so not gonna lie it was the most difficult physical and mental experience of my life!
It took me 5hrs and 20mins to make it to the top (slower than most fit people who make it up in around 4hrs) which meant we missed sunrise, but honestly the feeling of just making it to the top was EVERYTHING!!! Honestly I think I nearly quit three times on the way up but guide Made was nothing but supportive and encouraging with ZERO pressure and we bloody did it.
I could have done with another layer of warmth like a wind proof jacket for the summit but lesson learnt. When we reached the top there was zero visibility of the crater but within maybe 10mins the heavens opened up ie. thick fog disappeared and the crater was nothing short of spectacular!!!!
The cherry on top was being visited by about 5 monkeys on the crater, truly magical (I get goosebumps just thinking about it)!
The trek down took me 6hrs SOOO LONG but this was mainly because I’m unfit and my legs were jelly and stability on loose rocks was tough as FU**. Again Made didn’t for one second rush me and gave me a hand in the tricky bits. Also took me ages because I twisted my ankle 3 times and hit my knee on rocks a couple of times 🤦♀️ it took every inch of me to keep putting one foot in front of the other but thank god made it down to flat ground, hallelujah! EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME!

Ma-de is a calm, professional guide for our hike, providing us with head torches, hiking poles and breakfast. The hike starts in the dead of night (1am), and it's a bit unnerving to climb in the dark. We are not seasoned hikers, and it was a tough physical challenge for us. We managed to summit Mt Agung just in time for the sunrise, with Ma-de patiently guiding us as he explained the cultural & religious significance of the mountain. The trek down was difficult as well, as my partner and I were exhausted from pushing ourselves to reach the summit. Ma-de was patient with us, encouraging us to take periodic breaks to pace ourselves. Our advice: get proper rest the before the hike, and bring at least 2l of water. Wear proper shoes with firm soles that offer adequate protection from sharp rocks.
And a good guide like Ma-de makes all the difference especially when you're exhausted.

Made is a very good and nice guide. He is very professional. Patient. He does everything nice for us to be confortable. I will tell to my friends to do the Mount Agung wih him. It was perfect

Hoy hemos pasado un precioso día caminando por los arrozales de Sideman, preciosos paisajes y gente en cantadora. Acompañaadas por Kadek, que nos ha hecho amena la caminata, nos ha ayudado muy bien a cruzar el río y ha sido muy simpático. Un día para recordar!!
