A cool place with some jungle experience

You can park your vehicle at the Single Tree Buddhist temple. Please try to tell them about your visit to add some respect. From the temple you have to walk. It is fun. We walked with our two kids. You can have a spectacular view of Nuwara Eliya town from there. The top of the hill is closed due to security reasons since there are communication towers. The climate and environment change rapidly when you go up.

Good tracking & lake view

Walking up from the buddhist temple you’ll discover the beautiful views of Nuwara Eliya. Don’t expect too much. On the top we did not really find the viewpoint, grass has grown that high that you can hardly enjoy the views. But if you turn right near the fence and walk along it you can find the place to enjoy the lake view. Good tracking though)

Just 5 minutes drive from the number Eliya city down nuwara Eliya -badulla road is single tree hill road .drive up to the Buddhist temple and walk up to the view points. Probably the best view over the city ,lake and the surrounding areas. Highly recommended

Small hike from Nuweraeliya Town

Single Tree Hill is situated at Nuweraeliya town and it is considered as the 10th highest mountain (2105 m) in Sri Lanka.
It is just a small hike from Nuweraeliya-Badulla road. There is a gravel road which is good for a four wheel and I would like to recommend to walk along the road as it is scenic. You can enjoy the view towards Piduruthalagala towers, Gregory Lake and Hakgala mountain. Swarnagiri Temple is situated at middle of the path and summit of the mountain is occupied by communication towers. Sri Pada and Hatton area can be viewed from the summit of the mountain.
We spent about 1 hour to hike Single Tree Hill mountain.

Rooms are not great. Saw some foreign families who’ve got better rooms but not the locals. The rooms were lacking comfort. Food is great and fresh!

Hike in a tea plantation

We had not planned to climb this hill but we were drawn by the glistening green leaves of the tea bushes. Half way to the top is a Buddhist temple which can be a rest stop for the weary or the final stop for the unprepared. There are beautiful views of the town, the race track and Lake Gregory. Allot around 2 hours for a leisurely hike. Be sure to bring your own water, energy bars, and protection from the sun.

Hiked the single tree hill over the Christmas break and found it rather refreshing. The best thing about this hill is the location, it's on the nuwara Eliya town so you dont have to struggle to get to it and u can pretty much walk as much as you like and hike down. The view is amazing
