WW2 Museum in New Orleans

It was awesome until we went in the movie theater. We were there first with a WW 2 veteran in a wheelchair. Unfortunately Students from Warren Eastern High School on a Grant came in making a lot of noise talking. The pictures previews they were showing Stated no talking, texting, taking pictures, etc…The students continued to talk. My wife stood up and ask to please quiet down. They continue talking. After another minute my wife asked please to be quiet bc Tom Hanks was explaining what to do in the theater. The teacher said you don’t tell my students what to do. She never did anything to stopped them from talking the man working in the theater did nothing too and just watch. My wife looked at him and gestured to do something. Well the teacher and my wife started arguing. My wife said your students were loud and had no respect for the rules given. The students got louder. We left the theater and so did all the adults and the WW 2 veteran in the wheelchair. The staffed apologized to us and gave us different times to watch the movie. The head security supervisor David Yelton without knowing what was going on told my wife let me do my job and that she was being rude. Really!!! He did not nothing and left the students enjoy the movie while we the paying customers had to wait for the next movie bc we avoided any confrontation with the High School. Bottom line students of any age should have there own time in the theater and not be mixed with adults bc the I Millenium nowadays in my experience has little to no respect for adults or rules. We almost left and asked for our money back. The museum is a beautiful place but lesson learned do not ever go to the theater with students. They are there to be out of class. A few were very interested but most wanted to talk to their friends and disrupted our interest on watching the instructions given by Tom Hanks b4 the movie.

$35 entrance fee is a rip off. They have 700,000 visitors a year which means they are taking in $30 million a year.

Not a bucket list place at all! 35$ entrance fee x 700,000 visitors Rip off museum is making $30 million a year. Is this a for-profit business or real museum. Totally overpriced. One big interactive display. Kind of like walking through pirates of the Caribbean except World War Two.

An Amazing Museum and a must visit when in New Orleans. Allow a minimum of 4 hours to see the majority of displays, but if you have more time allow nearly a full day.

Don't Miss the Nation WWII Museum

This museum is amazing and highly recommended for anyone with an interest in WWII. We spent 12 hrs the first day, going to the Ella & Billie performance at lunch, and going to the Expressions of America in the evening. The next day we returned for another half day. You cannot see all of this museum in one day. This is truly one of the best military museums in the country. Many thanks to Gary Sinese and Tom Hanks for the part they took in the construction and running of this museum.

I would definitely make this museum a must see when in New Orleans

Absolutely loved this museum, so much history to live and learn from for all ages who visit. I had pre purchase Monday 10:15 a.m. tickets. Maybe because of the weekday choice, the museum was not crowded at all. My friend and I loved the new Liberation pavilion. All the exhibits engaged you and were beautifully presented.

The museum was an easy 17 minute walk from our French Quarter hotel. We spent about 3 1/2 hours there. Honestly you can spend an entire day and even days, we did not view any of the Solomon Victory Theater offerings due to time.

I would definitely make this museum a must see when in New Orleans. Just remember "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana."

Part of a larger tour, the WW II museum was a highlight. A splashy new museum with all the technical bells and whistles, this museum was comprehensive and very interesting. Definitely takes most of a day to absorb it all.

Really, a must see when in New Orleans!

Simply cannot give this museum enough praise and accolades. My mom was a small child in Germany during WWII, so, some parts were rough for her and brought some tough memories to the surface, but, she believes everyone should know as much as possible about this time in history, in hopes that someday all humans can find peaceful solutions, despite differences. Everyone can learn many things in this museum, and, if I'm fortunate enough to find myself in News Orleans again, I'll be visiting again, as it would be hard to give attention to everything curated in one visit!

Great museum, except for the initial experience.

A very large museum. Plan to spend part of two days here to break up the experience, otherwise it is overwhelming. Rather expensive (currently $35 per person; $11 for a second day). We found the entrance off-putting: visitors have to wait in line too long and receive a “dog tag”, which you are suppose to “swipe” at various locations throughout. My observation is that most people put the “ dog tag” away and do not bother. With so much to see this initial experience is a disappointment. Exhibits are well done. Lots of great video footage. The big question is, how much warfare do you want to “ relive” in a day?

The movie is a must-see
The 5* rating is for the movie alone. Everything else is superb but the “hero” is the Tom Hanks narrated film. Quite outstanding - should be in all schools.

We didn’t have time to give the museum justice, so we opted to just do the movie. It was so beautifully done and we were taken aback by some of the special effects. I visited Hiroshima years ago and have had trouble understanding why the atomic bomb was necessary. This film explained it better then I have ever heard it told. This film might be too intense for younger children.
