Grata experiencia en la Ciudad e New Orleans, ubicado en el mero French quarter . Es un lugar típico para la compra de artesanías y souvenirs, con su esencia francesa vale la pena a recorrerlo hasta el final. En el encontrarás recuerdos, pinturas, artesanías, pinturas entre muchas cosas más!!!!! Lugar obligado a visitar en la ciudad.

Der French Market ist tot. 1993 als ich zum ersten Mal da war. Gemüsemarkt mit Knoblauchzöpfen, Chilli, Gemüse aller Art wo man alles für die creolische Küche bekommen hat. Heute nichts mehr da - kein einziger Farmer mehr. Ich bin total enttäuscht aber die Zeiten haben sich geändert. Ich gebe ihm trotzdem noch 3 Punktr und hoffe dass er wieder reanimiert werden kann

Great food and I would recommend the Pina coladas. The stalls in the flea market are fairly standard for a market, very few are unique but worth a visit all the same.

One long paved strip of arts and crafts, gifts and souvenirs. From clothing to Chinese fans, from hats and purses to shot glasses, and fridge magnets to puzzle lockboxes. Plus I think they also sold a bit of food.
This is open rain or shine, as when it's raining, they have the side walls let down. Honestly I went both times, when it was bright and sunny out and then also when it was kind of rainy and gloomy, and I didn't even recognize it when it was rainy because of the sides. So be sure you remember this tip.
It does get pretty packed down the middle aisle, so best bet if you're trying to socially distance or in a wheelchair is to walk along the outer aisles.
Varying prices depending on what you get. Anywhere from a few dollars for a magnet to $70 for a lockbox.
Nice to enjoy during the day when you're looking to do only shopping, no drinking.
I believe it's cash only for this market, but have credit cards ready just in case.

Glad I made the visit.
First time around we came too late and many were closing up shop.
The second time having arrived earlier there were far more food and shopping options available. Souvenirs here will be cheaper than in other stores.
Nice set up overall.

This market is not any market I'd rave about & I do love a good market, but worth walking through. We decided to have brunch here at one of the stalls, can't remember the name of it, but have attached pictures of the stall, it was 17. We ordered the traditional breakfast which has grits, eggs & sausage. The egg was undercooked, but you can ask for your eggs to be well done. We also had a crab po boy, which wasn't very good. I think we should have ordered better. There is a big menu to choose from.

Don't both going if you are expecting anything special. It's a pleasant enough market with some interesting food stalls but it's nothing out of the ordinary.

There wasn't a lot of stands out. Great place to visit. They had a few selections to grab quick bites. Most of the stands were that of a flea market. Only a few "NOLA" made stands. Most was imported.
Indigo Graffiti was a nice stand, she sold handcrafted jewelry (i watched her make it.) reasonable prices for female souvenirs.

I was so excited to visit this market. In my head, I saw us snapping up a bevy of unique, artisan-created crafts and goods that we'd proudly display at home. Alas, it was not meant to be.
Maybe we got there too early? Though, it was well after lunchtime by the time we made our way down to the shops. It just...the market gave off a very strong "dejected" vibe.
There were stalls, don't get me wrong. But the majority of the people working those tables didn't seem interested in interacting with the market's visitors. We stopped at a couple tables, and while we were greeted at one (photographs), at the other (hand-made jewelry), the woman working was more intent on continuing her phone conversation than interacting with us. I walked away without purchasing a couple earrings because of that.
We did end up getting a snack at one of the permanent stalls, but that was the next day, on our "Foods of New Orleans" walking tour. The snack - boudin on a stick - was hot and meaty and spicy, and a lot bigger than I'd expected from a food tour offering.
I guess I built this up too much in my mind, and that's on me.

Hi Everyone! I've been to the French Market before on a weekend and really enjoyed it. I'm coming to NOLA in October and I'm bringing a newbie along and I want them to get the best possible experience. I was considering going on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday (to the market) but wanted to know whether all of the vendors and stands would be there, or if we should deal with the crowds and go Sunday. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

I was there last week, during a week day and all of the vendors/stands were open. There were a lot of people there, but it wasn't overwhelmly crowded.

No they are not hand made for that you need to go to Jackson's square which is mostly paintings but there are a few other things just go during the daylight as at night it's tarot / psychic stuff off there.

Is it open on Saturdays? I've been getting contradictory answers. Some people say it's Monday-Friday, others said it's open Saturdays. Anyone know for sure?

The hours are daily 10am to 6pm for the coffee and retail shops but the flea market is 9am to 6pm, and you can see special events, festivals,farmer's markets, classes, etc., so join the fun there since 1791! Don't forget the traditional Morning Call coffee shop open 24 hours in City Park (used to be at the French Market years ago), so if something seems to be missing, don't miss the fabulous coffee and beignets (and more) there.

great carpark here at the rear, you do have to pay but the rrate for a half day is reasonable. if you get there early there are a few free parks north of the railway track, but not many , so arrive early for those.

as others have stated you walk around the french market on your own. easy.
now i do recommend that you take a walking tour of the french quarter with the "friends of the cabildo" tours. slow pace, two hour tour to see and learn of the history and architecture of the old quarter. excellent tour, ask for lisa carr if available.
