This circle trail is 2.5 kilometers long and it tells about slash-and-burn agriculture which has been common in this area. You see old farms on this route.
The Turula croft was established when the larger croft of Ollila was divided in 1937. The main house is actually the half of the old main building that used to stand at Ollila. This log house was split into two parts for two brothers simply by sawing through the building in line with the local tradition! The last residents of Turula left in the late 1960's. Visitors may freely use Turula's campfire site, woodshed and compost toilet. Camping is permitted in the meadow around the campfire site.
The Mattila farm is one of the first in the area. It is over one hundred years old. There is a cafeteria named Elontila Courtyard Café in the Mattila heritage farm in midsummer. A soup lunch may also be available.
In summer there is also Slash and Burn Environmental Art Gallery in Koli. They usually have very nice environmental art on the Swidden Trail. At least I loved that very much!

About 5 km hiking trail with information about the slash-and-burn -agriculture. Every year they burn a small area of forest on the side of the track so you can see how the forest is growing. There are two campfire-sites, two outdoor-toilets and one camping area along the track. On summertime there are also native finnish cows and sheeps grazing along the track.
