Råkade stappla in här av misstag. För en te-nörd är butiken fantastisk. Utbudet är stort och ägaren bjuder mer än gärna på smakprover av det du är intresserad av. Särskilt har butiken fokuserat på puerh-te. Det finns också ett brett urval av tebrickor, gaiwans med mera.

Located in Chinatown, very ute tea room, excellent service and great selection of loose teas.

After visiting China this year I have a whole new appreciation for tea tasting rooms. I learned that one of my sons has developed an affinity for fine tea, and since the rest of our group was heading for a pub, we stopped by here to pick up a tea for him first. The tea brewer was knowledgeable and friendly and the tea selections were very nice high end teas.

We make sure to stop here every time we are in Seattle. You can try any tea you like before buying. The price per pound of tea can be intimidating, but you only need a few ounces, so don't let it scare you off. The last time we stopped (last week) the girl didn't seem to know quite as much about the benefits of each tea. She was very nice though and we still felt like it was a great experience.

There are a lot of teas here and you can try anything you want, just ask. Don't be put off by the price per pound of tea. A one or two ounce portion will be a lot of tea for a single person or household, and will be a good value. You can get teas for ~$4-10 an ounce, depending on your tastes and budget. It's a nice breath of calm in the busy market.

This is a great place to stop for an iced tea. The proprietor is very knowledgeable on the varieties and properties of the tea. All the jars I saw were loose tea. It is the Starbucks for tea lovers. The tea I ordered was specially infused and chilled. It was wonderful! Be prepared to pay for what you get. My 12 ounce cup cost me $4.50, but like a fancy Starbucks drink, or was worth every drop.

Vital Tea Leaf has two shops in the Pike Place Market area -- one on Western Avenue and the other at First and Union. When we initially went to the Western Avenue location years ago, two women staffed the store. One waited on customers, who came to buy, and the other provided tea tasting and discussed the beverage in detail, including the correct brewing process. We participated in the tea tasting with six others, learned a lot, enjoyed the experience and bought four excellent teas to brew at home.
Fast forward to a visit to the Western Avenue store in August 2015. Only one employee staffed the store and he stood chatting with a customer. I chose a small teapot to buy as a gift and waited to make my purchase .. and waited .. but was never even acknowledged. After about 10 minutes, I left the store empty handed.
Two days later, I saw the same teapot in the window at the First Avenue location. I went in with a friend to buy it but decided to taste tea first, so we sat at the counter. The sole employee poured a bitter green tea into our cups but provided no information. I consumed only half the sample so was surprised when she came over a few minutes later and poured ginseng oolong into my cup over the first sample. I drank none of the mixture and said, "No thank you" a few minutes later when she started to pour yet another sample into the cup. I think she was likely distracted because of other customers browsing in the store, but we definitely did not enjoy the sampling experience. We soon left to visit other places in the market.
There are certainly some lovely tea-related items for sale in both shops and a huge selection of teas. Be prepared, however, to wait awhile when making a purchase and to not expect hearing helpful details when sampling tea.

I stumbled across this tea shop by accident and it changed my tea drinking forever. Hands down, the best tea you can buy. It is especially nice to have the staff pour teas and explain them. I don't live in Seattle, 8 hours away actually, but one can order their teas online and the service is fast. I also have a friend that is Chinese and and she says you cannot buy better tea in Chinatown, SF. High praise and she drinks Vital Tea Leaf. Love, love, love.........

It was great to get away from the bustle of Pike Place market to enjoy soothing teas with the gracious lady who took the time to explain each tea. Our fav was ginseng oolong, just what we needed after walking around the market eating a lot of street goods. We went back the next day to make an exchange and to try more teas and the young lady who helped us was not as friendly or warm as the lady before. That was the only let down of our experience at Seattle's Vital Tea Leaf. If you are a tea lover like me, you will enjoy the tea tasting here.

Loved the experience... Very warm atmosphere the staff is on point and helpful willing to set up multiple tastings and decided to go with a delicious Jasmine white tea!
