Unfortunately you can not take a picture of the pew. The stained glass windows are beautiful - they are all Tiffany & some are rather of unusual design. Additionally, the church also has an awesome organ. I received a very informative tour.

Although this is not the actual church where the Mary took the boys to church, it is where their pew is located - in the lobby when you enter the building. There are docents available at certain times for guided tours of the church interior. Ours told us all about the beautiful stained glass tiffany windows. A few of them had angels as the focal point. One window has Tiffany's signed autograph on it.

We stopped by the church on a Sunday morning before the worship service. It has an impressive exterior with a large barn-like sanctuary. Frankly, we didn't find the sanctuary that pleasing (we were far more impressed with the sanctuary of Grace Lutheran across the street - impressive vaulted ceiling with wood beams and magnificent stained glass windows), although they do have an impressive pipe organ installation in the balcony that is worth a look.
On display in the narthex, is the pew that the Lincoln family "owned (back in the day prominent members would buy their own pew in the church)." The Lincolns first started attending First Presbyterian in 1850 following the death of their son Eddie. While Lincoln himself didn't become a member, Mary did. Their son Tad was baptized here in 1855, and sadly his funeral was also conducted here in 1871 (Eddie's funeral was held in the nearby Lincoln home, but the church's minister conducted the service). Of course, the Lincoln's belonged to the congregation when it worshiped in a different church building. The current building was completed in 1868.

Cette église est vraiment trèes impressionante, de style baroque et très bien entretenu...un stop à faire avant de continuer la visite !

We were walking past the church and invited in. I was curious about where President Lincoln attended. The people that invited us in gave us a brief history about President Lincoln and his family and the history behind the family pew. Things you learn from talking with people instead of out of a book. The history on the stain glass windows and the ability to look at them up close was amazing. Church has a beautiful pipe organ and they offered us a CD of some of the organ music. We declined. They were very friendly.

Walked over from Lincoln Neighborhood site. Ranger had said to go to side door in plaza area and ring the bell. We did. Was told they are closed. Only let people in June through August. Very disappointed! They shouldn't even advertise this as an attraction.

Didn't even get to see the Church!!!! First challenge was trying to find an unlocked entrance!!! Rang the buzzer in the rear of the church, someone answered and told us tours were Monday through Thursday only, from 11 am to 2 pm!!!! No signage at all that informs you of this!!!! We have never gone to a place of worship and found all of the doors were locked!!! I mean NEVER!!! Would not even attempt to go back!!!!
