The Center for the Arts is almost always bustling with activity. We've been there for art gallery exhibits, train shows, and historical displays. The staff is super helpful and very enthusiastic. Getting around can be a bit difficult if there are large crowds or events on multiple floors. Check the calendar well in advance and double check admission. Not every event is free.

The Center for the Arts at the Candy Factory is home of the Pied Piper Theatre. It offers classes and it performs amazing productions a few times a year.

I was very excited to finally get a chance to visit the Candy Factory and was surprised to discover that I had actually walked by it several times during other visits to town. I now wish I had known as it turns out they are not open on Sundays and that was the day I was in town. I thought especially with a festival going on that they would be open. I will have to try again.

I have attended several events at the Candy Factor including our yearly tradition of going to see Scrooge. It is a beautiful facility with an open feel. There are many classes offered including acting, painting, etc.

What a great idea to renovate the old candy factory and make such good use of the space. The art displays rotate so subsequent visits are always different. Nice experience.

We were driving through Manassas on the way to Dulles Airport, and stopped for lunch at The Bone. Walking over to the restaurant, we saw the Candy Factory and made plans to get dessert there. Imagine our surprise and embarrassment when we entered to find an art gallery instead of candy! Perhaps better signage is in order?

Mostly featuring youth and local art, there's a small gallery immediately inside the main entrance. The building itself has an interesting history and story board display in the lobby. The building upper levels are also used for some local theater auditions and gatherings, as well as for art classes.

There is a small area near the front that review some of Manassas history. As you go up the stairs to the gallery, there is a glass covered opening where you can look at the historic foundation. The day I visited there was a quilt type display-many interesting and beautiful.

My family recently had the pleasure of attending an art opening at the Center for the Arts at the Candy Factory in Manassas VA. This place is well worth a trip - simple modern gallery downtown in old town Manassas, where the local artists selected are reputable and doing some really exciting original work. We were lucky enough to see paintings and poems by Janet Stoeke in the Exhibition, "Presence" which reflects on our emotional connection with nature through landscape paintings and poems relating to places of meaning and memory that have provided solace for the artist and her loved ones during difficult times. The show is powerful and deeply moving: a celebration of Stoeke's talent at capturing the beauty and intimacy of places as sancturies for the soul through subtle seasonal color changes and nuances of sunlight. "Presence" is currently showing at the Center until the end of October 2015 and can be viewed online at Janetstoeke.com.
