Books, microfiche, microfilm, software programs on over 100 computers are there for the research on your family tree. Staff are so welcoming, friendly and knowledgable. Vending machines are in the Snack room. Make sure you start your family tree on family search.org. Ask for an iPad at the desk on the main floor and go to the screens and dock your the iPad to find where you are from and what famous ancestors you have.

They store a lot of documents associated with church history here, so not many people go here. But, they have a small little collection of interesting pieces of church history. We had a great tour by a young missionary. It only took about 20 minutes and was well worth it to see things that aren't anywhere else in the world.

If you have any interest in family history, this place is a must-go-to. I think it's probably the largest family history library in the world. Very cool.

I’ve been here probably 4 times. The museum was updated a year or so ago and has some new areas. Tons to see. You can spend hours here and not see it all.

The Church History Library is designed to provide a welcoming and fascinating experience for both casual visitors and serious researchers. For casual visitors, there is a lobby/reading area with an inviting display of books--including photo books--on a variety of topics to do with Mormon and Utah history. There is also a small but amazing display of original books and documents from early church history. I would recommend taking advantage of the tour guides, who can give more detailed information about the documents. The tour also includes a brief video about why the church considers record keeping and the preservation of books, records, and photos to be so important. For serious researchers, the invitation to access material from the twelve enormous vaults full of books, records, photographs, and other media is too good to resist. In either case, a visit to the library is a very worthwhile stop on any visit to Temple Square.
