We have visited many Natural History Museums. This one is at the top. Each section, from anthropology to geology to paleontology was superb. N>H>museum are geared to both adults and children. We attended while there were school buses of children. The displays are organized so keep short attention spanned individuals alert and engaged. No whining, no running about, just interest! We were enchanted at each turn in the museum. We learned so much...painlessly. It is best to start on the top floor and take the wooden ramps down, as the map suggested. In addition, we saw their special exhibit on Anchor Wat, not only the temple itself, but also the city around it and the people who lived there. Fascinating.

Don't miss this excellent Museum in Salt Lake City. We spent parts of 2 days there following a Mighty Five van tour and found it wonderful for adults as well as for our 8, 10 and 12 year old grands!

A thoughtful, immersive, spectacular experience for all ages - this is a worthwhile stop. Both the exterior and interior, architectural and experiential design lend themselves to a very easy, natural flow of visitors through this museum. Travel through time and vertical space along an ADA-accessible path, with well-placed, hands-on activities that span the senses (including smell)! I’ve visited twice, on both and off-peak day and in the thick of the cheese/chocolate festival (!), both alone and with a group of 12; each time, I was able to move through the exhibits without feeling rushed or crowded.

Beautiful museum with lots of interactive activities for kids. The gem and mineral section wasn’t huge but nicely done. They Han chi it on Angkor Cambodia that was magnificent. Highly recommend

Musée trés interessant et bien agencé, on ne s'ennuie pas une seconde. La batiment est très beau aussi. Expos temporaires intéressantes.

This review is based on my visit with my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter. It's a great museum but best for kids 5+ and reading ability would be helpful. I was here a few years ago and this time I found it to be in a bit of disrepair. Interactive stuff was broken or removed. Also, for a place that does see a lot of young kids, there should be more that is appropriate for them. This also includes having small person toilets in the bathrooms.

Great for learning about the geological and climatological history of Utah and the inter-mountain West. Outside, it was 100 degrees Fahrenheit the afternoon we visited, but it was very comfortable in the museum. The museum is on the outskirts of the city, on the University of Utah campus. So, if you would like to see the university campus, you’re right there. That said, It may be a little hard to get here without a car. Unsure if a Utah Transit or university transit bus would be a viable option. Parking isn’t an issue, based on our experience. There are beautiful homes on in the general area, if you would like to take a drive around the nearby neighborhoods before going back. Great view of the Salt Lake Area from the museum balcony, as long as it is not foggy or hazy the day you visit.

Part of our western trip. Nice facility, well maintained & clean. Tickets were $20 per person, thought that was an ok price. Staff help must not have had good day, most seemed less than thrilled to be there. The displays were good to excellent, but built more for a younger audience. A few of the interactive displays needed maintenance. Light on content, we were through the museum in a little less than an hour. Plenty of parking.

Superb collection of dinosaur fossils and an excellent explanation of the evolution of life over the geological ages. Spectacular building too.

The Museum was one of the best I’ve visited. The layout is very well done. I started the tour on the top floor and worked my way down. The exhibits are very informative and easy to navigate. It’s an immersive experience. The way the Dinosaur exhibit was organized was the best I’ve seen anywhere. The Museum is wheelchair friendly and the staff is helpful and friendly. There is a nice gift shop on site. There was a Cafe, but it was closed during my visit.
Definitely give yourself plenty of time to explore and enjoy the Museum.

Yes, this mueum is a must go. The dinosaur fossils are amazing and there are special temporary exhibits as well. When i went there was a cool viking exhibit. There are also areas you can walk around outside the museum.
I would like to visit the museum and need to find a hotel near by. Can you please list a few hotels that are close to the museum?

we always stay at the Home2 suites by Hilton salt lake city east. Its address is 2350 S. foothills drive. We have stayed here three times and it has always been great. Good luck and have fun.

Is there a planetarium at the museum? I searched the museum website but found nothing. Yet, I thought that I had seen "planetarium" mentioned somewhere regarding the museum.

Hello traveler, there is not a planetarium in the museum but the Clark Planetarium is at the Gateway downtown Salt Lake
Just search online by name and you can get more information including shows and activities.
