On a visit to Estes, after dinner at Claire's, we stopped in out of curiosity. Rachel showed us around and explained the measuring and ordering process (you email them a photo of your wall at home and they will photo shop how your wall will look with the image you are interested in buying). The process was easy and she was so helpful and informative, we purchased a photo for our home. Very pleased with our purchase; a great memory of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Warmth.
That Is the feeling you get as you walk through the doors of this literal treasure of Estes Park.
I call it a literal treasure because, on the outside, it looks a bit bland, hidden among many other shops. You open the doors, and just like a pirate opening the top of a weathered chest, you are immediately greeted with wonderful gems that are photographs of the Rocky Mountains. Shining, immediately catching your eye. The lighting is set up perfectly to bring out the most awe-inspiring parts of every photo. A calm music plays in the background, immediately bringing you to a state of relaxation.
I greet the woman at the desk, who I later find out is named Rachel (during my awkward run back in to find out her name for this review) and what a warm welcome she brings to this establishment that already makes you feel like you are home.
The gallery isn't huge, in fact it's quite small, but that is the best part of it, because just like one of those purses in cartoons that the character pulls out massive amounts of random items from, this gallery packs a MASSIVE amount of talent, beauty, and mystery for the visitor to think over throughout their whole day.
As an amateur (working on professional in some sort of fashion) photographer myself, I look closely at the pictures, not for the sake of interpreting them, but to see how those photos stack up against my own, and I can tell you one thing, I never imagined such resolution at those sizes. It is inspiring (to say the least) what you can do, when you devote yourself to a craft.
I am taken back by every photo I see, to a very fond memory of my own. Having never been west of Indiana until about a month and a half ago, it is confusing to think how these photos of the Rockys would bring back memories for me. But that is what this gallery does,
Not only is this a photo gallery, this is a place to quickly reset yourself, to focus on nature, the energy that nature provides, and the connection between nature and ourselves. I one day hope to meet Erik Stensland ( owner and sole photographer of the gallery) and pick his brain about being outdoors. However, in the mean time, tomorrow I will be stopping back again, and picking up one of the many books he has published that lay beneath most photos of the gallery, to learn a little bit more about him, and myself.
Also, DONT FORGET TO LOOK UP! photos not only hang on the walls, but they are on the ceiling as well.
Now, on to Rachel.
As I begin to leave, I inquire about the price of the books (ProTip: prices are usually on the back of books apparently hahahah.) She walks me over to the books I was curious about, and she shares information on them, not too much, and not too little, enough to make me want to read them all. We go back to the front desk, and I inquire about Erik. She has wonderful information about the man behind the lens, as a daughter does a father, or as a mentee does a mentor. Endearing, encouraging, and most importantly, correct information. The way she interacts with the guest is, well, sort of going back to what I was saying before, warm.
She invites and encourages questions, she has answers, conversation is easy, it is like reconnecting with a family member for the first time in a year on Thanksgiving.
She is exactly the type of person I would expect to be the immediate face of this establishment. She is by far one of the friendliest, and welcoming people I have ever met.
In conclusion: I suggest everyone stop by here, If it just hasn't been your day, stop here, reflect. If weather isn't right to go up in the mountains for a hike, stop here, and enjoy what there is too look forward to seeing, pick up a hiking or photo guide. If you just aren't sure about what you think life is trying to tell you, stop by, and look at what life tells us every day.
Mother Nature is one of the most mysterious forces we encounter, and Erik and his team have done one of the best jobs letting us experience those mysteries and sit and think about them and try to unravel it for ourselves. To feel like we are there with him, looking out at everything this world has to offer.
Thank you, Erik and Rachel, for this wonderful experience.
I am sure to be seeing you again soon,
Edward M. Arguelles.

ES is an incredible photographer. Be sure to pick up his books at his shop in EP (or online). The photos are beautiful. His guide to RMNP is invaluable. If you are going to Colorado.. his work (and Images) is a MUST!

Erik Stensland's photography of the park is outstanding, and Rachel and team are super helpful in explaining how to select sizing and framing so that the art selected will best compliment the space where it will be displayed. A real jewel of a gallery!

This is a must-stop while I am visiting Estes Park. There are beautiful affordable books, and cards to buy that fit most people's budget. There are amazing large prints to look at- and would be an amazing edition for those who can afford them. The person working there has always been super friendly and helpful!

If you wish to bring home a memory of Rocky Mountain National Park this is the place to stop. The photographer sells large prints that can take up a wall or small ones you can fit i your suitcase. The only problem is picking your favorite.

Where is the best place to fly fish in the national park? Thank you kindly.

I honestly do not know. We are a photography gallery in Estes Park. I believe you need to contact the Rocky Mountain National Park Visitor's Center.

My cousin and I are driving from Denver to South Dakota. We were wondering if maybe we should spend a day (first week of September) at Rocky Mountain National Park before heading to South Dakota for 5 nights. Would it be worth it to go for such a short visit? If we do it, any suggestions of routes or must do’s? Thanks

The fall colors typically begin in the tundra during the first week of September and make their way down, hitting the aspen around Bear Lake by about the third week of September. That said, there is still plenty of beauty to be found in Rocky Mountain National Park. I recommend packing a lunch and taking your time driving through the park for the day. There are several stops - Bear Lake, Sprague Lake and the Glacier Gorge area that offer nice, easy hikes. Bring plenty of water and remember to stop by my gallery on your way out of town!

Just wondering how to dress for the weather. Will be there the week of July 20.

Hi, I'm assuming you are asking about visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. You've written to my fine art gallery in Estes Park but I'll still do my best to answer your question.
Here in the mountains the temperature can vary greatly. It can be as warm as 80 degrees in town but at the same time up on the top of the mountains it can be only 60 degrees often much cooler. I suggest that you bring clothes for a wide variety of weather conditions. Wear layers that you can put on and take off so that you can be warm or cool enough depending on where in the park you are and what the temperature is. The weather here varies a great deal and most afternoons are marked by severe thunderstorms that last a couple of hours.
I hope this helps.
