We had an amazing time. Our guide , Jana, was great. We learned a lot and saw some amazing views. We definitely would do again.

Our reservation was made a month in advance and planned our trip to stay at Cat Mountain Lodge. Had to book for our last evening of a 3-day visit because other nights were booked. Had a friend come out from East Tucson to join us and we ate at a little dive nearby so we wouldn't miss it. Got a call from our guide minutes after we were supposed to meet him. He had called earlier in the evening but not left a message. Cancelled because there was supposed to be a cloud bank moving in. Never did. Sky was perfectly clear. So disappointing.
We overheard a bit of the presentation from an evening before while we hung out on the patio, and they obviously had such a wonderful time -- lots of oohs and aaaahs and laughter. Sadly, it was not for us. Terribly disappointing and needlessly so.

This was a GREAT experience and a great value.
We did the AstroPhotography session Robby. Robby was very knowledgeable and personable. He coached us through a combination of camera ISO and shutter to take pictures of stars, constellations, and nebula.
Book it, you won’t be disappointed!

Rob gave our group an excellent introduction to the night sky. The telescopes were great and he included a significant amount of detail about each observation. His passion for astrology was evident. A wonderful evening experience.

Wow. We booked for n advance and planned our days in Tucson so we could get in to the star talk and guided viewing. We were lucky to have a clear and moonless night but after that all the credit for an amazing two hours goes to our guide Edward. We are not super knowledgeable star gazers and certainly not amateur astronomers but what we saw and learned took our breath away. First, the location, right at the edge of Tucson Mountain Park meant an in encumbered view with minimal background light. Through the larger telescope we were taken on a tour of our solar system, galaxy and even beyond to other galaxies. Even with no telescope Edward gave us lesson in the night sky. We saw shooting stars, the Hubble telescope with the naked eye.
Please adjust expectations. You are looking through a decent sized amateur telescope. Don’t expect what you see in photos from space or from giant scopes. But be amazed at what you can see.

For my husband's birthday, I booked this stargazing event. The first time we tried to book, it was too cloudy and the event was canceled. We had decided to stay at the B&B to avoid having to drive home in the dark late at night, and that was a waste, but I understood it wasn't Spencer's fault.
The second time we booked, on Sept. 30th, 2017, we invited friends to join us. We all booked rooms at the B&B and sat outside waiting for the guide to arrive. No show. It was a clear night and there was no reason to cancel. We called the innkeeper and she called and texted the guide, but couldn't get a hold of him. We waited for him to call back, he never did. No apology for the no show. Nothing. So this time I was not the only one stuck with a bill for the room, but my friends were too.
I'm not trying again.
Save your time and money and don't book with Spencer's!

We had quite an education about the night sky. They used a large 14 inch Celestron telescope. Rob gave us an interesting introduction into viewing the stars. Sort of our first rodeo and he was extremely patient. A must do if your nearby, set up appointment with the people at Cat Mountain Lodge.

my wife, son, and I reserved 2 hours on a Friday night when visiting Tucson. We were able to see many great objects in that short time including Venus, Mars, some binary stars, nebulas, star clusters and even a few galaxies. We were also lucky enough to see a large meteor! Robby was a great guide and extremely informative/knowledgable. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area again and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!

Merci à Robby pour ce moment magique que nous avons passé avec lui à observer le ciel étoilé de Tucson. Il nous a fait découvrir pendant plus de deux heures une grandes variétés d'objets astronomiques avec des explications très détaillées de tout ce qu'on observe. Il nous a demandé ce que l'on souhaitait voir et à tout fait pour accéder a nos envies. A la fin nous avons même pu prendre des photos avec notre propre appareil !!! (voir photo jointe). Nous recommandons chaudement ce "space tour" si vous êtes dans la région ou que vous logez au cat mountain lodge juste à coté.
Par contre il faut parler et comprendre correctement l'anglais pour pouvoir interagir avec le guide.

Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide - Thanks, Alison! Had a great time. Got amazing pictures. Spent two hours looking a number of awe inspiring sights in the sky. Kids loved it!

Hi everyone, we have a 7 year old and 11 year old and are debating between this experience and Kitt Peak. I am a little turned off by the 4 hour+ time commitment for Kitt Peak for our kids, not even including the drive there and back. But, our son is very interested in the star gazing experience. Would appreciate perspective - is this the better experience for kids? Or is Kitt Peak just way cooler and duration will not be an issue :-) ?
