If half stars were an option it would be 3.5. Because the views and layouts were so incredible and the staff were so helpful and friendly, it doesn’t deserve a 3. The started on 7/21 was such an incredible guy. Took time to show us the course, came around and checked on us. Had the group ahead of us allow us to play through.
But the greens. Wow. They are terrible. Yes it’s hot but every other course we played had great greens. These were so bad they literally should have been ground under repair.
If they get the greens corrected, this is a 5 star course with the people they have.

We played the Resort course, it seemed the Palmer course was unavailable. However, this course was fun to play. The 7th hole is really a sight! 100 ft drop to the green and you see Six flags and San Antonio in the back drop. The staff were excellent. Everyone was so nice and helpful with what to look for on the course. It's more expensive but this is a resort. Will definitely be back.

We celebrated our 6th Wedding Anniversary at La Cantera with five couples of our family and friends. Although the guys didn't play golf this time, the ladies enjoyed an awesome spa day! The welcoming and friendly staff make us want to come back again and again.

We played the Palmer course and we were overwhelmed by the beautiful views and change of elevations. Almost every if not every hole plays uphill or downhill at some point. I know a hill is not a tall as a mountain but some of the elevations seemed more like mountains than hills. The course was well maintained to the level you would expect from a resort.

I have been wanting to play here since it opened and I saw the pros play here on TV. Bucket list check, but would come back. Course in great shape,service and staff excellent. Wildlife abounds on this hill country track. See review for Grille 254 as well. Carl plays here. 86 from the gold.

Awesome course. Friendly, helpful staff. It’s a great Hill country type golf course. Very well manicured with challenging greens.

We had a great time and it's a great course (the resort course). Staff was friendly and food and beverage was also good. Greens were good and fast and pace of play was OK. Some people just don't get it about ready golf. My only complaint is the only time we saw a marshal he was driving up while someone was swinging. These things happen everywhere but here you would think not. I would recommend this course if you're in San Antonio.

I played the La Cantera Resort Course (they have two courses) this week for the first time since they newly renovated their sand traps and greens. My previous experience was that it was a much easier course than their sister course (The Palmer). The Resort Course is still breathtakingly beautiful and their signature par 4 overlooking Fiesta Texas is worth the price of a green fee alone. Unfortunately, the new greens are very fast and the pins were set in U.S. Open (think Shinnecock Hills) locations. I am a 3 handicap and played very well and shot a 79 with 38 putts. My three playing partners, all 18-20 handicappers, each shot well north of the century mark. A few pins in accessible locations would have lowered our scores significantly. If you are looking for the ultimate challenge with fast, undulating greens, then this is the course for you. I still prefer the Palmer (one of my favorites in Texas), but I will return. Price was reasonable for a resort course and the service was outstanding.

Even though this course is,
" TheBest I Have Ever Played" , I am going to write a short review. Why , because what ever I write will NOT do it justic.
It is Fantastic, Outstanding, Unbelievable, and incredibly hard. It has lots of blind shots, double dog legs, great sceanery, multiple elevations, great water carries, beautiful greens , fairways, unbelievable hazards.
What more is needed to be said.
If you want to challenge yourself, or you call yourself a golfer, the you have GOT to play this course.
See, a short review, because I cannot find any more words to describe it.
Ps: Bring a few"extra balls", trust me, you will need them.

I played the course with my son and grandson (6 years old). My grandson did not play as he was there for the ride. The course was expensive. The greens were in poor shape. No grass on parts of the greens. They made us buy another cart because my grandson was considered a third person. No course has made us do that before. The cart person was rude. The less expensive courses here are much less and in better shape. Don't waste your money on this course.
