We were told this was a “must do” in the Roosevelt Lake trip experience. It’s a nice cove but several folks brought huge campers down there and took over 1/2 the space, so not much space was left for day visitors like us. The central dumpster was overflowing. The shore line swim area was nice but the speed boats and jet skis were so loud and not respectful of the “no wake” area in front of the swimming area, so it hardy made the visit peaceful.
Not sure I would go back.

Scenic shoreline

Lots of places to stop and enjoy the scenic views. Roadway is narrow and winding. Many nice places for camping

Very Pretty!

Three mile wash area is a very pretty drive but the roads are narrow and unpaved. Take your time and be courteous of other drivers, some areas you have to wait for someone to pass before you can go through. The campgrounds are really nice and trees for lots of shade. You need a Tonto Pass which can be purchased at most of the businesses back down at Roosevelt.

I visited this place on my trips on the Apache trail. It is an amazing camping place with great fishing - I haven't caught anything but my friend god a couple of huge largemouths, The views are great i would recommend to pass by.

Made a quick stop here on my trip through the Apache trail. Just a quick dip in the lake as a refresher from driving all day and from the hot Arizona heat. A few people were pretty settled in for the weekend and I don't blame em!

There are so many great things you can do in this area if you love nature and the incredible Arizona terrain. This location is just 3 miles south of Roosevelt Dam.

Be sure to purchase your Tonto Pass ahead of time. You need a pass for each day that you stay.

The area features primitive camping. Fishing is abundant. . You can fish for trout, bass, catfish and walleye.

Plan to stay a few days to take advantage of all the area has to offer!

Can anyone tell me what the boat rental rates are at the Lake Roosevelt Marina? I have tried emailing them several times but get no response!

Go to their website (Roosevelt Lake Marina) then hover over services and you will see a tab for boat rentals. For example, a six seater pontoon rents for $300 according to their website.

My hubby and I are going to Roosevelt Lake and we were wondering about the Tonto Pass. We will be fishing and staying in some nearby lodging. My question is about our America the Beautiful Pass and what all it is good for there. It looks like we can go to The Tonto National Monument but I'm not sure about the fee areas around the lake? Picnic areas only? Can you fish in the picnic areas? If so, does anyone know of a nice one where there is some shade and our dogs can join us (on leash)? Thanks!

We drove the entire Apache trail in our SUV a year ago, and were on the outside of the road, heading from Roosevelt towards Tortilla Flats. I still get the willies thinking about how close we were/seemed to the edge. I'd love to take our 22' trailer to Three Mile Wash from Roosevelt, but just have visions of a harrowing experience. Anyone have some words of wisdom as to how reasonable it is to try this? I know the web site says up to 22' but I don't know how realistic that really is. Thanks so much. Barbara
