Great experience - Jimmy is a great instructor, and we truly enjoyed this lesson. Surfing is my favorite sport now.

Jimmy and Nani are incredible people. And a rad duo.
So sweet and sincere.
Very well prepared! Professional, yet has that welcoming family feel.
My 9 year old had a blast and a great experience! Was definitely a highlight of our trip.
The quality of the drone footage is amazing!!! I was able to receive it all right then and there!
Would absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone.

Got Jimmy’s name from a friend who lives on the island. Booked a north shore private group lesson for me and my teenage sons. Jimmy called the night before to discuss a change of plans due to decreasing waves on the north shore. While we were disappointed, Jimmy was 100% correct. Our move to Waikiki and to the early morning allowed us to get the full experience. Great teacher and definitely wanted to ensure we had a great time. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

My friend and I had a great experience refreshing on our beginner surf skills with the Hawaii Surfing Academy (recommended to me by a colleague whose three kids had raved about it). We both have had lessons before, many years ago. Jimmy and his partner provided spot-on coaching, and we both got several rides in. It was fun and I'm feeling more confident to try to catch some more waves on my own. The rides go by fast, so it was awesome to have the drone camera footage to review and flex on my friends with. And who doesn't want to see sea turtles as they learn to surf?!

Uncle Jimmy was awesome. He got my 3, 5 and 8 year old up on surfboards. Afterwards they kept asking to go back!
Other critical things for families:
1. He has a drone to capture everything on photo and video so no stress lugging your phone in the water or begging people to take photos!
2. Uncle Jimmy supplies all the things you need: life jackets, surfboards, swim shoes, rash guards and swim pants. Even for 3 year olds and mommas.
3. Uncle Jimmy is patient, great with kids, and I felt safe with him taking my kids out!
And for the mommas out there:
Uncle Jimmy boosted my confidence. He had me up on the board with the first wave. When I wanted to turn back out of mom guilt - he reminded me to take some time for myself and get back up on a wave.
Truly, a once in a lifetime experience. When we go back to Hawaii, we will be giving him a call.

Jimmy was fantastic teaching 7 adults how to surf. Our elderly parents that have never surfed were able to stand up, and consider this an experience of their lifetime.

Free video and photo shots with drone. A great idea for surfing. No need to bring your own gopro whatsoever. Jimmy took care well my gf who’s not really good swimmer and kinda afraid of water before.

I booked a lesson for my 2 sons. My oldest son, 24, told me “Jimmy was a REALlY good teacher! I mean really really good!” I told him, “Yeah your brother stood up and rode the wave his first try and so did you!” He said, “That was easily one of my top 3 experiences in life” That made me so happy! And I actually have video and photos of all this thanks to Nani, who captures everything and sends it all to you. She is so sweet and they prepare you with everything! So after this, we booked again!!! This time my sons did even better. My niece,, my sister, and I have also had a lesson now. My niece was also standing up and able to stay up a little while. My sister and I, well. .. we both feel very accomplished that we stood up. My first time I went to stand up i see an enormous turtle swimming under me! At first i was scared because I was in the process of standing. I immediately wiped out lol. That was ok. I feel lucky to have had him swimming with me right under my board!. I can not recommend HSA North Shore enough! I hope they also read this. Thank you for such an amazing day. Oh and they even gave us certificates for Matsumoto Shave Ice! So awesome! Then we watched the professional surfers competing in a competition riding like 20ft waves and had even more of an appreciation for it!!!

I did change the appointment twice because of the weather and sudden injury. The owner is very responsive and understandable even when I called him early morning with jet lag. Looking forward the first surfing experience with my wife.
