Similar to many arches around the world, or gates to a city, this arch commemorates those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the USA. It is nicely kept, although there was some work being done around it, so there was temporary fencing around the perimeter, but you could walk under it still, and some of the sidewalks were closed nearby too I think.
There were a few nice trees nearby, and could be a nice picnic spot.

We visited Valley Forge the week after Christmas and there was still some damaged roads from flooding from a past hurricane. Also, there was construction around the arch but we were able to drive around and get a good view of the arch, walk under it and get some good photos without any construction interference. Truly remarkable structure and architecture.

I visited the National Memorial Arch in December 2021 as part of my visit to Valley Forge National Historical Park and my self-guided driving tour with nine stops. It is a great photo opportunity.

The National Memorial Arch is a fine work of craftsmanship and artistry. It is a beautiful memorial to honor soldiers and express hope. Don't just drive by... park and walk up to the arch to see the inscriptions and symbols up close.

In my opinion the highlight of the perimeter drive in Valley Forge. While it is "just an arch", I found it very moving and the history of it's construction interesting. While I have seen "victory arches" in Paris and Rome, this one was special to me as I have ancestors that fought in the Revolution. The masonic connection was no surprise and in fact added to the signification of the monument.

This imposing structure in Valley Forge National Park clearly reminds me of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. This arch, however, sits majestically atop a high hill in the park. I got quite a good photo of the American Flag blowing in the wind and framed by the arch.

After you enter the main entrance you will drive down a one way road with a path alongside. As you come to an intersection you will see the arch. Go straight through the intersection and proceed to the parking lot behind the arch. You can walk up to the arch to study the art and symbols and take pictures with the flag in the distance.

When you get to this park there is a visitors center with restrooms at the beginning. They will have maps available for the driving and walking routes. About 2-3 stops in is where you’ll find the arch.
The arch has beautiful detail that you can see if you walk up to it. Visitors can’t drive up to it. Distant pictures on the opposite side are amazing with the trees.

This monument is for Valley forge. Great detail in the monument. Make sure you look to read what is etched. Into the monument.

There is parking and you can walk under and around. Or you can just drive by depending on the time you have.
