First Basilica I have been to with an indian woman carved into the extraordinary woodwork, it had many differing persons involved with region and church over time?
I dont know actually. I did not do tour. I did sit thru mass. They did healing session at end over throat.
The Priest held two unlit candles in cross held at your neck...one candle was at one ear, the other at the other ear, and the candles forming a triangle to your neck. He said some prayer, nothing weird or creepy. i just have never seen two big candles used at throat. I think all forms of religions have interesting 'rituals', I tend to be fine to anyone blessing another in any language. I have been blessed by far more simple

the candles were those big ones on altar, a little daunting to have at neck? maybe it's a 'covid' ritual of 'do not touch', i dont know, i'd rewrite that technique myself.

I had no idea there was a church in the United States that looked like this. Absolutely the most beautiful church outside of Europe.

Beautiful Cathedral. Both inside, and outside. One day I hope to watch canonization of Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada, deeply devout Roman Catholic clergy who helped Catholics in Cincinnati area, and world wide.... They helped me. Cincinnati should be very, very proud.

From the outside, this church gives off Notre Dame vibes. The inside is equally impressive, especially if you enjoy architecture and quality craftsmanship. The stained glass window is the largest in the western hemisphere and 2nd largest in the world. Standing in front of it was really amazing. Their collection of relics (for non-Catholics: direct or related items associated with a saint) was impressive as well. We did the self-guided tour, but I would've loved to get a guided tour just to learn about everything within.

For this church, the address should be "1140 Madison Ave, Covington, KY 41011", it's a beautiful church, both inside and outside are beautiful, there is a garden outside with a little fountain, the whole environment is beautiful,

If you are Catholic and want to experience a wonderful mass while in the Cincinnati / Covington area then make a point to attend mass at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. Great bishops and music. The building is beautiful and the ushers very helpful and friendly.

The volunteer staff was very helpful and the self guided brochure very informative. I would recommend stopping in to see the Basilica.

Attended Sunday mass while traveling. First the place is beautiful! Second the bishop said the mass. Third he's a great guy. Didn't expect to see a cathedral like this in Kentucky. Very surprised in a good way. By the way, the sermon was about planning a trip & being flexible which prove very good advice.

Self-Guided Tours
Self-guided tour brochures are available at the Greeters Desk, found by the North side entrance. The brochures are free and available to individuals or small groups. They are currently available in English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, and Japanese.
Guided Tours
Docent-guided tours for groups of ten or more can be arranged with at least two weeks' notice for a small fee. These tours last about and hour and provide a greater depth of information compared to the self-guided tour pamphlet. Tours can be arranged by calling the Parish Office at 859-431-2060.
On many Sundays, after the 10:00 a.m. mass, there is a guided tour open to those who are present. If you are coming to the Cathedral and would like to know if there is a tour scheduled that Sunday, call the Parish Office at 859-431-2060. Note, tours can be canceled with little notice depending upon the availabilty of a Docent to lead the tour.
