I went to zoofari at July 25 with a party of 6. Before we did the driving tour we bought some animal food which was just overpriced carrots and lettuce for $7. Starting the driving tour there were ostrich, emu , buffalos, alpacas, deer all together in a small enclosure for all those animals to be together. The zebras were separated from all the other animals. The enclosure was behind a subdivision in Vienna so not that much space for all the animals I just listed above.
We start the walking tour going throughout you can tell/see the animals very sedated and docile and didn’t seem happy. The animals for both the driving and walking tour seemed like they weren’t getting feed. They way the animals were begging for food. The different enclosures didn’t seem like a good environment they were small, wasn’t being taken cared of and the different pairs of animals together seemed strange Ex. goats and deer together, turtles and kangaroos, turkeys and peacocks. The enclosures didn’t seem like people were monitoring them. Another example: the children were trying feed the birds which they’re placed with turkeys and peacocks. The kids are running around and not being spacial aware between them and the animals. Now the animals are stressed. Also unsafe for the kids as well.

The main reason I came was the capybaras even they didn’t have a lot of water in the pool that was in their enclosure so they couldn’t fully submerged themselves in water as they supposed to. Also, the pool didn’t seemed maintained. Throughout the driving and walking tour all the animals seemed very sedated and docile. From the pricing of it,the terrible living conditions for the animals and treatment. I woundnt recommend coming here. My party of 6 and I wasn’t please and actually really concerned for these animals.

From another review someone which I wasn’t aware before going stated “ Roers is also not an AZA accredited zoo so take that for what you will in how their standards fall short of providing the animals what they need in captivity”

If you care and love animals please don’t go here they need to be shutdown

I do not normally visit small animal places like this because I'm always worried about the welfare of the animal........ I'm convinced most every dime spent here goes back into the upkeep of the facility and the care of the animals. To say they are spoiled would be an understatement - they are getting fed all day / everyday by happy guests like me. I did the lemur encounter and Crystal was amazing - she was entertaining all of us prior to entry by giving them peanut butter as a protein supplement - needless to say the monkeys were going bonkers !!!!!! I had a fabulous visit and would highly highly recommend doing the 9am tour - when I left at noon the place was crazy packed. I personally enjoyed the serenity of being one of the first people there and the animals were hungry and interactive ;).

What a fun time! My son has been begging to go to a zoo, so we went to the Reston zoo. The safari was fun and exciting especially since the animals are friendly and walk over to greet you, and eat from your hands. My kids were excited the entire safari drive! Walking around and seeing all the animals was also fun for the kids. Bottle feeding the baby goats was a highlight as well as the bird enclosure. The birds landed on our hands while we fed them. On top of that, the staff was so friendly. We are season pass holders and will be going back!

Wowee! Off the bat I gotta say: Pay for the lemur encounter! Just incredible! I had an encounter with a sloth that was wonderful at the National Aviary but these creatures are so interactive! They hold your hand while they eat off of it and try to grab your phone while you take pics. I did this as a birthday treat for myself and I was not disappointed. The small aviary was cool, too as you could feet budgies with popsicle sticks and they land right on your hand or arm to eat. All the feed and encounters can add up though so expect to spend about $100 for the full experience. I should also note that the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive to the animals. The only thing that left me a bit disappointed was the drive thru portion since only a few animals approached. Skip the baby goats, they just about kill each other trying to all feed from a small milk bottle.

I babysit my granddaughter who is almost 3. We have been here 3 times. Groupon frequently has a great coupon for the weekdays where it's buy one get one free. The food is a little pricey, but I kind of figure they are trying to take care of the animals, so I don't mind. Our last trip it was 65 degrees, & we saw every single animal. They were all so active. (We went to the National Zoo this summer twice, & didn't see nearly as many animals.). Because of Covid, you now drive through the first part; 2 loops. My granddaughter absolutely loved the llama's putting their head in the window & eating right out of her hand. (She was in her carseat). In the zoo we saw so many species of animals....kangaroos, monkeys, pigs, lemurs, and even a giraffe (he does not cost extra to feed) ...even the cheetahs were brought out on a leash by the trainers & were just a few feet from us. Lots of the animals had babies too! The parakeets were very active & we fed many with our peanut butter sticks. It truly was the perfect day! Highly recommend...a very fun place.

What a great little zoofari. My sister and I need a little getaway trip and we stopped here as part of our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience from the drive through, to aviary and definitely our Red-Ruffed Lemur encounter. It was fun to drive through the zoofari feeding the llamas. donkeys, buffalo, etc. And in the walk through portion, we were able to see and/or feed goats, cava, warthogs but of course, Waffles the giraffe was one of our favorites. During our personalized lemur encounter we were able to feed and learn about these very inquisitive animals and we finished with a wonderful walk through the aviary.

Because our trip was late in the season, it was not crowded and we felt very Covid safe. All the workers were friendly and knowledgeable as well. Because this zoofari is not far from us, I know we'll be making a return trip.

If you have an animal lover, then it is worth the expense. While the ticket is steep (especially for larger families) the added expense for carrots/lettuce/milk can really get to you. But don't skip the animal snacks....that really makes the experience worth it!

While they had a food truck outside, I would suggest bringing a picnic lunch as there were LOTS of places and tables to eat at. (A great way to save $$$)

Hints:
>> While feeding the baby bottle to the goats was fun, it was quickly over. I would spend the money on carrots/lettuce.
>> (And baby bottles were only available if you pre-purchased them).
>> When we first went to see the birds, it was only the chickens who came up to us. After being there for a few minutes, the budgies finally "found" us....and it was pretty amazing. It was worth it for the bird sticks!

I took my 5 and 3 yr old daughters on a Friday afternoon and we had an amazing time. The drive through safari was a lot of fun and not overly crowded. My daughters couldn't stop laughing when the animals stuck their heads in our windows and hunted for carrots/lettuce. By the time we got to the walk-through part we were a bit disappointed to hear that the aviary (where the birds literally land on your arms/head) was closing and we wouldn't get to see it. My daughters were super disappointed until the incredibly kind manager arranged for a staff member to take us and see it for a few minutes. There was no reason she had to do that other than she was just an amazingly nice/kind person as were most of the staff. We actually went back the next day as well as I my daughter couldn't stop talking about it. The lettuce/carrots are undoubtedly expensive but it's truly a wonderful outdoor activity for the kids in these crazy times. We're even considering an annual membership which are on sale and could make it far more affordable if you go often. We can't say enough good things.

This was ok, but quite expensive for what it was. We were met at the gate by a staff member who had his mask pulled down below his nose. Several others at the place were wearing their masks similarly - so they just don’t get the COVID safety issue. Price of lettuce or carrot for animals should be included given the crazy price of admission.

There also was a huge backlog of cars, so we waited 10 min behind in a line of cars as the ones in front basically just parked to watch the animals and talk to a staff member. When the car started moving, the staff member had the nerve tell is us to hurry up because there was a now a long line. He had an annoying attitude, even though he was part of the delay. Didn’t appreciate an attitude for the crazy price we paid. Other staff were better, thought.

Overall, it was a decent COVID activity, even if they didn’t mask correctly. Likely won’t be going back, though, nor would we recommend it given the high price.

I'm not sure how things would go here pre-covid, so not sure what all we missed out on, but we had a really good experience. We went on a weekday, signed up online for a time slot. They let you drive around the safari circle twice, it was so much fun! The animals come right up to your car and stick their heads in your windows, it's definitely worth buying the $5 lettuce or carrot cup, it makes the animals a lot more interested in you. There's deer, llamas, donkeys, longhorn cows, emu, ostrich, buffalo, and probably more that I can't remember. There's also zebras, but you can only look at them, they are kept off by themselves. After that, you go to the walking portion of the zoo. Since they only allow a certain amount of people, it was pretty easy to social distance. The biggest attraction is the giraffe, but they had probably 7 enclosures ranging from goats to a cheetah. Also some small reptiles and amphibians. That wasn't as interesting, and we breezed through pretty quickly. We purchased a bottle to feed the goats, which I would NOT recommend. It's $5 for maybe 3 ounces, and the goats suck in up in about 2 seconds.

Overall, we had a good time. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is the cost. We were there about 1.5 hours, and spent $60 for 1 adult and 2 kids (and could've easily spent more). It's a money pit for sure. So one and done, but given the limited amount of things to do this summer, I'm glad we went.
