Could not have asked for a better experience. My wife and I booked a full day trip with Greg and had an amazing time. He was super thoughtful and flexible leading up to the trip and make great recommendations along the way. Even though we had absolutely zero experience Greg had us catching fish within the first hour. As a previous Yosemite Ranger he had a ton of great history and stories about the park the the 8 hours just absolutely flew by. He knew exactly where to take us, we felt confident the whole time and was able to enjoy the beautiful area while learning a fun new sport.
11/10 would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun day in Yosemite.

David led us on the ultimate combo fly fishing and hiking day through Yosemite park. From the first day coordinating over the phone i could tell how much of an incredible guide he would be. Park rules were complicated during covid and he did everything he could to get us in last minute. In the park, we went to multiple hiking and fishing spots on and off the beaten path. We were new to fly fishing and he made sure to teach us all the ropes, had awesome gear, and an A+ attitude. Could tell how much he loves Yosemite. David’s half day was the highlight of our entire trip, but he was kind enough to give us recommendations for our other two days at the park too!
Proud to have met a new friend in David. Can’t wait to hang out again soon!

My son and I went fly fishing with David at around 10,000 feet in Yosemite National Park and it was an amazing experience. The setting was exceptional; the vistas were truly breathtaking and it was relatively quiet - so very peaceful. As a guide David was excellent company, very informative and was very keen to ensure that my son Oliver caught some trout (it was his first fly fishing session) resulting in 21 trout caught in a 3.5 hour session. I would highly recommend using Yosemite outfitters to all.

We fished with David Gregory today in a trip that was designed perfectly for my 5 & 7 yr olds first time on a fly rod. They learned about the wilderness, the fish, bugs, everything. This was more than a fishing trip, it was a live version of a “kids outdoor tv show” focused around the park, fishing, and trout. Each kind of trout we caught...and we caught Brook Trout, Brown trout, & Rainbows trout...were put into a clear container so David could safely teach my boys about the fish. My boys each caught 7-10 fish & my wife caught 2 - a first for each of them on a fly rod. David even found time to teach me (not my first time but still a novice) a few things.
Thanks to David Gregory for a great day in Yosemite with my boys and wife catching beautiful fresh water trout. There was a lot of “best day ever” being thrown around by my boys...which is the definition of a successful first fly fishing trip for a father of two young boys

Could not have had a better day - anywhere! From my first phone conversation with David Gregory through the day we spent fishing in the High Sierras, he made every part of our experience "five star." Incredible company. Spectacular scenery. An almost Zen-like education on fly fishing. And somewhere in the magic, the three of us caught 30 fish. I only hope I get another opportunity to spend time with David.

Just got back from a vacation in Yosemite NP. First the entire park is simply beyond description. Plenty to do for those not "living for the tug" - hikes, rafting, photography etc. My son and I engaged YO for 2 half days (one session on a creek and the other on the Merced) and a full day (Tioga Road/Tuolumne area)
We rented a home in the Wawona area...The Redwoods in Yosemite has a number of homes available, depending on your needs. It is an hour from the Valley and two hours from Tuolomne
Our first half day Stu was our guide, taking us to a spot off of Glacier Point Road. My son and I have limited experience, but Stu was great at helping us fish the smaller creeks for rainbow and brooke, using both drys and nymphs.
The second outing David took us to the Merced, where we were fishing for bigger trout. Even though we were in the Park, we never saw another person on the water.
Our final full day was spent in the Tuolomne Meadow area - here we fished for both bigger fish in the main river, for smaller fish in the side creeks and mountain pools.
Over the course of our outings we landed close to 3 dozen fish from 8-15+ inches. My son had a couple of 20+ on the line and we spotted some true whales in the gin clear water. (A couple of times we felt that giving David a shot would be the only way to bring in these beasts, so we let David show us how...we didn't care who got the fish!)
We caught fish in every location and were able to land a few on our own, fishing the South Fork of the Merced, using the techniques we learned the previous day. We saw some spectacular sights - snow covered peaks in June, a herd of mule deer 20 yards away, a swimming black bear, and the biggest trout David has seen in that area - we stalked that whale for a while, but never got him to show interest.
David and Stu are outstanding teachers and they know where to go and what to use to catch fish. The best part about the trip - my son is now "hooked" on fly fishing or as David says, "live for the tug". I couldn't recommend David and YO higher - my son and I now consider David and Stu our friends!!

Me and my 12 year old son spent a half day fly fishing with David Gregory. We had never done it before, and David was very helpful - an ideal guide for sure. He was enthusiastic, patient, informative, accommodating and encouraging. He was also on time, which is important to me.
He brought water and snacks. We both caught some rainbows. David worked a lot with my son and helped him catch a couple first - smart on his part.
I definitely recommend David and Yosemite Outfitters. A great time that flew by and had us wishing we booked a full day.

David was a fantastic guide for a half-day of fly fishing for me and my 11 year-old son. David obviously has the patience and knowledge base of a great teacher and took us to some beautiful spots far away from the crowds of Yosemite Valley. If you are planning a family vacation to Yosemite, then booking an adventure with Yosemite Outfitters has to be on your list of things to do. They take care of everything. All you have to do is show up and be ready to learn and fish (and keep David's favorite fishing spots a secret!). Even after our time fishing with David, he was an excellent resource on what to do (and not to do) in Yosemite.

Rick was our fly fishing guide for the day. He took us to Tuolomne Meadows as well as his recommended spots on the Merced. Rick was extremely knowledgeable, and such a wonderful and patient guide (considering I had never been fly fishing before). It is an experience that we will never forget, and always remember fondly. Thanks so much to Rick and Yosemite Outfitters for such a wonderful day!

We (my wife and I) did a half day of Fly fishing on the Merced River in Yosemite valley. David, our guide was terrific. My wife had never fly fished before and he was terrifically patient and instructional so she felt great about the day. I'm slightly more experienced so he got me to great places that matched my skills. We both caught fish, but almost didn't care because the setting was so amazing.

Will be out there with my adult children in july --wondering about a fly fishing day or kayaking day...do you provide all of the equipment and get the fishing licenses etc? and where are your prices listed.

We do not provide Kayaks, we do provide equipment to fly fish, rods, waders, and flies. A drift trip is two people. Our prices are on our website and click on your preference Walk & Wade or Drift-
click on walk and wade or drift trips and the prices are there.
