Viewed from the road into Ribeira Grande and also from the lovely garden’s adjacent to the town square, this impressive viaduct is set of with a backdrop of the Atlantic.
It crosses a river that runs into the Atlantic. With 8 arches it had become a symbol of the city and as such is featured on the coat of arms of the city, which can be seen on the facade of the municipal building in the square

... é palco das festas em honra de São Pedro. As cavalhadas, que percorrem toda a Ribeira Grande, desde a Ribeira Seca no dia 29 de Junho, têm aqui o seu ponto máximo.
Jardim muito bem pensado, tratado e cuidado, merece meio dia de visita em toda a sua zona envolvente não deixando de visitar também as Igrejas à sua volta.
Esta é, sem dúvida, uma das zonas mais bonitas de toda a ilha

Die Brücke mag in alter Zeit eine Attraktion gewesen sein, heute ist sie als Bauwerk eher "mickerig", trotzdem ist sie als Teil des Ensembles aus Fluss, Brücke, Rathausfront und den beeindruckenden Eisenbäumen eine wichtige Sehenswürdigkeit. Der Platz ist einfach nur schön.

Die Brücke in Ribeira Grande an der Nordküste von São Miguel ist ein echter Hingucker: gebaut als Bogenbrücke, weiß verputzt, alle Kanten, typisch azoreanisch, mit schwarzem Lavastein eingefasst, wie alle Tür- und Fensteröffnungen in São Miguel.

This beautiful bridge in the town of Riberia Grande was very obvious when looking out to the direction of the ocean. We did not get too close to it but it really added certain charm to the small town.

Je me rallie à d'autres voyageurs : Ribeira Grande est un excellent endroit à partir duquel visiter la partie centrale de l'île et plus (non, tout ne se trouve pas à 30 min. de route!). Il y a une véritable vie de village - nous avons assisté à une vente aux enchères qui incluait poulets et artéfacts, et à un souper caritatif... Côté bouffe, on vend de tout - incluant une poissonnerie - et il y a d'excellents restaurants. La promenade est bien aménagée et la piscine municipale en bord de mer est inoubliable et bon marché!!! Et la page de Santa Barbara est accessible à pied...

Il ponte, le chiese, il municipio, le rapide del fiume, gli alberi pagoda, le spiagge rendono molto interessante la cittadina, che è punto di partenza per gite a grandi attrazioni naturalistiche.

It is a bridge and a nice place, but that is just about it. Not much to see and parking can be a bit difficult due to the crowded area.
