One of the entrances to the old town, but not especially noteworthy or pretty. The walls are here, but the best part is to wander and see the small old town with its charming houses.

They say that they are the most beautiful towns in the Basque Country and it does not detract. The ancient entrance to the town is beautiful, a stone arch, guarded by a figure of an ancient soldier. Next to the door is the old movie tower, converted into a home by some lucky person. It is the entrance to San Pedro Street, which gives access to the historic center and of course you have to walk it from top to bottom.

It is from the 16th century, to the right is the cube of Santa María that served as protection
We will see next to the entrance of the door the sculpture of the “Hatxero” (soldier of the time).

We parked in a lot just below this gate and then entered the town by walking through it. Approaching the gate afforded some wonderful photo ops as the gate is pretty striking.

St Mary Gate is part of the largely intact old defensive wall that surrounds the old part of Hondarribia, and is now probably the main gate into the charming old town. Best viewed as part of a stroll round the walls and the old town, which isn’t a large area - but utterly charming.

Es una de las entradas en la antigua Muralla. La más accesible. Destaca uan figura de un hachero (personas que van en primera línea de ataque abriendo paso. Sus gorros tan grandes son con objeto de asustar al enemigo) situado en su entrada. Muy bien mantenida la puerta. Destaca su escudo
