The ancient Peki'in synagogue, according to the Jewish tradition, is connected to the Second Temple period. As of today, who is "guarding him" is the Granny Margalit Zinati who is 90 years old. She is the last remnant of her family that has never abandoned Peki'in.

We had a special visit in the ancient cinagoge today (during the Suterday - Sabat) with a group build of Druze and Jewish going together' and we got honored to visit there toward noon with local druze tour guide when Zinati old lady' the door keeper was inside' the place itself does raise some jewish questions as there is no "seperated women zone" ' probably there was some cotton separation. in the past there were 7 Tora in the locked cabinet' but 4 were taken to jerusalem to be barried one was taken away at some point and two left over to enable jewish pray's' today we had a special meeting as with us we got the woman name Nadia Cohen (Eli Cohen HI"d our herrow spy in Syria) and the 2 old ladies got an emotional moments when Miss Zinati told Nadia that she had special pray's for Eli and eventually she blessed us all and got some memorial gift to warm here from our group leader. Asit was Sabat we had off course respected her and the place and took no pictures inside - so it does worth a visit ' mainly with q local tour guide with will take you to the RASHBI CAVE and than have some lunch or dinner in the traditional city center.. There are more attractions to visit' like the Honney local manufacturer visit room ' the Jamila soaps center and more - Enjoy

This is a synagogue thathas tradition of going back until the time of the Second Temple. As a licensed tour guide, I take people to visit here regularly.

While touring villages in the north of Israel, we visited this old synagogue which includes an exhibition that focuses on thousands of years of uninterrupted Jewish presence. in Peki'in and Margalit Zinati, who belongs to the last Jewish family in town and whom we managed to meet. She is quite old and frail. It will be interesting to see what the Israeli powers-that-be locally and nationally will do to maintain the thread of Jewish life in this place.

This small shule in the middle of a Druze village was fascinating. It has been lovingly cared for by the remaining Jewish lady, Margalit,, who lives around the corner. There is also a museum about the history of the synagogue and Jewish life in that part of the world. Well recommend a visit.

Peki'in takes you back to an older, simpler time. A visit to the synagogue and the Zenati house, combined with a stroll through the alleyways of the old 'heart' of the village makes for a great half a day activity.

Saturday while walking the alleys of old Peki'in we bumped at Margalit Zenati, the last Jewish resident in the old village. Despite the Sabbath she opened the synagogue for us. It is under renovation, but in use for special occasions. We had a long chat with her on her life story and got her blessing. I recommend to visit during the week days and to combine the visit with the show at the adjacent visitor center show for which need reservations in advance

At the time of the destruction of Jerusalem in 67 CE a few priestly families managed to escape and after finding the stream that still runs thru the center of the town, they settled here, farming and essentially off the map until discovered in the 2i0 century. The synagogue they built and prayed in has just been renovated with a very professional and moving film.. In the town center is a Druze restaurant, right along side the stream with wonderful traditional Druze food. Off in the caves is the cave where Shimon bar Yochi and his son retreated to escape the romans, all in all, a memorable place.
