Wir waren heute zum Eisenbahnfest dort und es war wunderbar. Man konnte ganz viel ausprobieren, Führerstandsmitfahrt machen und es war super spannend. Groß und Klein waren begeistert. Ein toller Tag

Lohnenswertes Ziel für Eisenbahnliebhaber, betrieben vom Verein Sächsischer Eisenbahnfreunde. Im zehnständigen Rundschuppen ist eine kleine Sammlung regelspuriger Dampf- und Dieselloks untergestellt, darunter die letzte erhaltene sächsische 94er. Auf den Außenanlagen finden sich verschiedene Personen- und Güterwagen. Die Gesamtanlage wirkt in weiten Teilen authentisch, auch dank ihrer relativen Abgeschiedenheit. Die Eintrittspreise sind moderat. Übers Jahr gibt es attraktive Sonderveranstaltungen, mit seiner betriebsfähigen 50 3616 (derzeit zur Hauptuntersuchung) organisiert der Verein auch Sonderfahrten. Einziges Manko: Eine Besuchertoilette sucht man vergebens, hier, liebe Schwarzenberger, solltet Ihr Euch etwas einfallen lassen.

The people who volunteered to bring this train yard back from where it was in 1990 deserve a lot of credit. Today the train yard is unkept and has no one there that has the fire in their blood to introduce visitors to the history of the trains. Yes - you freely walk through the dark engine shed and around the tracks, reading the plaques for the train cars. We were hoping to find a schedule for exertion rides, but that wasn’t the case.

An interesting and well presented railway museum in Saxony. I visited in the winter so many of the locos were undercover rather than outside but there were still a good number of exhibits to look at outdoors depending on you interest. The collection of locos in the shed was interesting but take a tripod it you want to photograph them as the lighting is typical of a loco shed. The staff, on the day I visited, didn't speak English but were friendly and helpful. The entrance fee is very reasonable, it should be more! The group running the museum also runs steam and diesel trips in the local area over highly scenic routes.
