Amazing Kayaking trip to Monkey Island

This was such an amazing experience. Keishya was such a wonderful soul and tour guide. She explained everything thoroughly so everyone felt safe and comfortable to kayak. The water was very calm and made the kayaking very easy, and the water was crystal clear, so you can see many fishies swimming around. When we arrived to the island, many monkeys were running around and super playful swinging from the tree branches while others were walking around, being curious or catching some shade under the trees.

I would definitely recommend this trip. My best friend and I were happy for this experience!

Amazing Kayak Trip & Monkey watching!

Do this tour, it will not disappoint!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our sea kayaking excursion with Keisha!!! She was very communicative and gave great instructions. It is important to follow her instructions for safety. Closed toed shoes that can get wet, preferably water shoes are best. No flip flops or sandals. If you don’t have any kayak knowledge or experience that is okay.
Keisha is very patient, knowledgeable and a great instructor. We had an amazing time rowing to Monkey Island. Then once there we anchored off shore in waist deep water to view the monkeys. They were very active and we saw them play, fight, chase each other and just be monkeys. Keisha brought a set of binoculars for up close viewing. We shared them and it was nice to see the monkeys that were up high.

Keisha gave us options for which way to go around the island for other views. She provided all the equipment including life jackets and dry bags for phones, keys, etc.

Beautiful views, fun kayaking, knowledge and fun guide, Keisha and monkeys!!!

Thank you Keisha for an amazing excursion!

Watching the monkeys frolick on the island was mesmerizing. Keishya, our tour guide, could not have been more gracious, accommodating and helpful. She prepared us about what to bring ahead of time. She imparted extensive knowledge about the macaque monkeys and the island itself. She patiently instructed my husband and me how to maneuver our kayak-not an easy task given our advanced age and arthritic challenges. We gained a sense of accomplishment completing this adventure.

Waited a long time to go see these Monkeys!

Have been trying to take the kids on this tour for 5 years. Have been thwarted by lack of availability, bad weather, Covid, and flight cancellations.
THIS WAS OUR YEAR.
Two teens (13/15), two adults, and two other lovely adults made our group of six.
Lucked out with the weather--sunny and calm for the morning kayak tour.

You paddle over from an easy to find beach with free parking, and then skirt the edge of the island itself to watch the monkeys play. We didn't see sea turtles along the way, but plenty of pelican and other birds.

The island is inhabited by 1000+ monkeys that are fed daily, as some are destined for science labs. Keyisha, our tour guide, had lots of good information to share on the history of the island.

Keyisha takes care to explain how to stay safe on the water. New-to-kayaking participants will do well with her. She was not in a hurry at all! I think this was very reasonably priced, as well. After your trip, consider some cheap seafood at Armando's or burritos at Taco Rico (they're side by side) and a couple minutes' drive from the beach.

Got to see lots of monkeys and iguanas and pelicans, we kayaked around the whole island. It was a beautiful trip and Keiysha was so knowledgable. Highly recommend!

This kayak tour is a must do when visiting Puerto Rico, especially if you're an animal lover. Keishya is a wonderful host with a wealth of knowledge about the monkeys and the island. We were lucky to see hundreds of monkeys and she never rushed us to move on to the next stopping point. It was really cool to learn about it all. She also made everyone feel comfortable about kayaking and was a great instructor, especially on a day where the water wasn't very calm. If you are reading this review go book your tour now!

It was such a unique experience to visit Monkey Island with the wonderful tour guide, Keishya. She was extremely kind and accomodating, patient and thoughtful. She gave us a wonderful explanation of Monkey Island and got us there and back safely. You can really tell that she has been doing this for many years. It was definitely the highlight of our trip. If you're wondering whether you should do this while visiting Puerto Rico, stop wondering. Do it! You won't regret it.

Top 5 experience in my life.

This was literally one of my favorite experiences in my life. Floating and watching the monkeys is something I will never forget. My 13 year old daughter has been telling all of her friends about it ever since we returned home.

Keisha is also very knowledgeable and will keep you safe while on the water. She knows everything about the area so show up prepared with some questions so you can gain a little knowledge as well. Also, do not neglect the fact that kayaking at sea is a bit dangerous. Everything she says/does/recommends is for your safety.

Amazing experience. Kieysha was very helpful, informative, patient and thoughful. She is a fount of knowledge for all your questionzls. She asked for everyones level of comfort and adjusted her helping hand accordingly. The kayaking is moderately difficult, it is not a placid lake, but it is easily doable. The monkeys were really cute to observe and there is plenty of tirm given by kieysha. She helpfully points out interesting things you might have missed.
She is also knowledgeable of the surrounding area so ask her for tips on places to see or eat before you leave.
Highly recommended.

Kayaking to Monkey Island was such a memorable and unique experience. I would recommend booking this excursion towards the beginning of your trip as it heavily depends on weather/water conditions. Keishya cancelled our original booking date due to weather and had to reschedule for the following day, requiring us to make adjustments to our itinerary.

The kayaking itself is beginner friendly and not too strenuous to get to the island. The monkeys are definitely a highlight as they are very visible, active, and amusing to watch. Keishya took us to two different vantage points so as to let the group see hundreds of monkeys by the end. She was very flexible with allowing us time to observe the monkeys and let the group dictate when we wanted to leave the island. She was nice enough to take photos of us with the island and the kayaks.

The only part of the trip we weren’t as fond of was Keishya’s level of involvement throughout the experience. While we appreciated her knowledge/expertise in both monkey facts and kayak technique, she is very forthright in sharing her thoughts. Though some may appreciate a higher level of involvement, we were hoping for more autonomy in ways such as getting into the kayak (we repeatedly told her we could enter the kayak on our own but she insisted on steadying it for us) or searching for the monkeys on own (she would consistently point them out and double check we saw the exact one she was pointing to). Likewise, we were grateful for her thoroughness for instructing us on things like the direction to hold the paddle, movement of paddling, upper body positioning, etc. However, we did feel it was a little overkill for a group of 6 adults (majority sharing they have previous experience kayaking) to be talked to in that particular manner. To be fair, she did give us some space to kayak at our leisure on the way back (which was appreciated) but she is definitely more hands on overall.

Thank you Samantha for sharing your honest thoughts on my instructions and level of active involvement as a guide. This is actually one of the first times I have been informed of this and I will certainly take your words and experience into consideration. It is sometimes difficult to gauge how much is helping and as in your case clearly, you felt it was overbearing. My sincere apologies if you felt the experience did not give you room to spread your wings. As a guide I try to do my best but clearly sometimes I read people wrong as your feedback expressed.
