The garden is only open one Sunday a month between February and November. This year we have opted to visit every month to observe the changing seasons and this is the best way to observe the skill which has gone into the design. This is a large mature garden with woodland walks which enables them to devote dedicated space to seasonal planting and every month there has been a new highlight in different parts of the garden. At present the herbaceous borders are at their best and the productive walled vegetable garden is producing its harvest.
There is much to admire in the many design features all around the estate.

Beautiful gardens. Lots of variety- borders, lawns, woodland, potager. Not massive so a couple of hours will do. There are seats dotted around where you can sit and contemplate. Toilets. Coffee wagon. Plentiful parking. Open second Sunday of the month only. No entry to the house.

The gardens are only open one Sunday every month. We were lucky enough to be in the area that weekend and enjoy the stunning gardens beautifully designed. We explored along the river and the various footpaths and bridges. We really enjoyed our few hours here. There wasn’t anywhere to eat (I’m not sure if that was because of covid) but there was a coffee and cake stand at the front of the hall for light refreshments. I’d really recommend a visit.

What a wonderful place to visit. The gardens were beautiful with such a huge variety of plants, trees and shrubs. There were wonderful wooded walks too. I can imagine the flowers would be better a little earlier than in late September when we made our visit. Anyone interested in gardens would love it here and your camera would be well used. We will definitely visit here again next year, but probably at a different time of year.

Visited on a damp day so chose not to do some of the hill paths into the woodland, but there was still plenty to see: planting on the patios and steps to complement the house (not open, but a great backdrop), painted bridges and rustic bridges over a peaty-brown river, garden ornaments and sculpture, stone mosaics, formal and informal summer planting with wonderful colours and shapes, great kitchen gardens, mill leat, small traditional glasshouses, clipped hedges and velvety lawns - and a pond for picture-postcard reflections. This is a garden that encourages one to think of revisiting at different times of year - and it is a living garden: one area had had some large trees cut down and a new planting scheme was being developed. Only open once a month.

one of the best if not the best garden I have seen. It was just stunning, The garden was a riot of colour ,each bed perfectly thought out. . We didn't manage to see the woodland due to lack of time. Thank you Arabella and Mark for allowing us to share their haven. What an honor . . bad luck that we left it too late to enjoy the wonderful home made cakes we had seen earlier. !

The garden is a stunningly beautiful and romantic garden which every garden lover should endeavour to visit. It has creative and artistic touches everywhere you look, and is maintained immaculately, and with love and care.
There is just one minor, but important point I should like to draw to the attention of the Manager, Event administrator or to the Lennox-Boyds themselves: Many visitors will travel some distance to see this very special garden, and being able to have a drink and a small bite to eat is an important part of any such visit. There is always what appears to be a sumptuous array of cakes and tea breads to choose from, however last year when I visited with my partner I enquired whether there was a vegan option, and unfortunately there was none. I was sure, however, that when I visited this year with my sister that the hard working ladies behind the counter would have updated their baking skills and provided a vegan cake option, but I'm afraid that this wasn't the case. With hugely increasing numbers of people now choosing to eat and drink plant based foods for reasons to do with climate change, sustainability, health, and of course the prevalence of animal cruelty involved in the egg production and dairy industries it is so surprising to find food options which do not include vegan alternatives and a non dairy milk option.The Women's Institute have taken this on board, and just about every other food and hospitality provider, so please, ladies of the local church, do include cakes for those with vegan preferences, or for the many people who now find themselves intolerant of dairy foods. That would just make the visit absolutely perfect.
