We had read about the 'Wine Cellar' from reviews on Tripadvisor and so came off the motorway at Mooi River after our stay near Winterton, especially to take the R103 to Rosetta.
Very easy to find, plenty of parking and safe environment, everything about are arrival felt so right.
How can one put into words the exceedingly warm welcome by Margaret, who although was entertaining her family, gave us her overwhelming attention. The 'Wine Cellar' is an incredible place, the original Aladdin's cave but housing such variety of quality wines. Wines and wineries throughout South Africa that we have either visited or tasted/purchased, this was surreal moment in time- a rarest of gems, organised in such a fashion that the complexity for choosing was made so simple.
Margaret, thank you for your kindness, your advice for our onward journey to Nottingham Road and Howick. Your advice of the special places that we needed to visit, and we did.
We selected our wines, we had coffee here too, sat outside in the beautiful sunshine and also took a look in the second hand bookshop on site, we didn't want to leave.
Fantastic array of wines, a gem of a place to visit but what stands in the mind the most was the beautiful nature of the people here, the community spirit and the kindness shown to visitors in a country that we love, we felt your love...

So friendly and knowledgeable. Great selection in lovely quiet surrounds. Many specials available and even ordered a item for me that was not in stock.

Find rare wines from the fine shop just off the road driving to Nottingham Road from Rosetta, 9kms outside the town on your right.
Well worth meeting the owners, why not buy a bottle of red (or white) and let it age a few months.

The Wine Cellar is one of my favorite stops in the Midlands. They have a, wide variety of wine, various sizes and prices. You may get wine as a take away or sit in. Accommodation is also available, just in case too much fun is had.

It was our first stop and we were not disappointed. They stock and excellent variety and the Deli is also nice, Don't miss the SPCA bookshop next door. Fantastic service.

The wine cellar stocks a huge selection (particularly of red wine) at very reasonable prices. It was a treat to look around and pick a few wines that aren't readily available in any other shops.

A wonderful family run this gem. Their knowledge and selection of wines is outstanding. We like to picnic at The Wine Cellar. Choose some wines from their incredible collection, cheeses, breads, cold meats from their shop and you are in for a treat. We never leave without buying some of Sarah’s recommendations. Don’t miss out.

The owners are fantastic. We bought a bottle from their amazing collection of fine wines and sat outside having a glass, under the trees. A super way to spend a relaxing arvie in the Midlands

Thanks SO much Peter and Colleen for your kind words- it was awesome to meet you and look forward to meeting up again! In summer it is wonderful to sit out under the trees but don't discount winter with a wonderful fire in the Boma. We hope you had a good trip home.

I enjoyed shopping at this shop as it had a great selection of wines from the cheaper stuff to that that I could not afford. It was so good to see some wines at good prices that are not seen in run of the mill wine cellars.Really enjoyed wandering through the place. Thanks
