We were in Wallace today to see the monument dedicated to Simon Newcomb. We happened by the Wallace Museum and decided to drop in.
The staff were friendly and there is a small gift shop, with some really nice items. The gift shop also had some ancestry related books. We purchased several items and were delighted to discover everything was tax free.
There are several displays and there was even a display case of several items related to Simon Newcomb. This museum is worth a visit.

Moved to Wallace and found this Museum to have many items, not only concerning British Empire Loyalists but having a good knowledge of the home we had purchased. Admission free. Its worth the time.

Our volunteer guide, Ryan, was careful to explain the important exhibits in an engaging way. When we showed particular interest, he would elaborate. Otherwise, he gauged our level of interest and tailored his presentation to suit. In 2016 the museum has a special exhibit relating to the lobster catching and processing industry. We found this very informative as we had been eating lobster on a daily basis on our tour of Nova Scotia. The actual underwater footage of a lobster entering a pot was captured by a researcher in local waters and worth taking a few minutes to watch.

Visited here and was really surprised at the history on display. Maps, boats, war medals, stories, and so much more! There was a yard sale that day so also enjoyed this.

Lovely grounds. Horrible map that was hard to follow and not to scale. Trails were not well marked. There are several walking trails but they didn't seem to have a point, focus, or theme.
The staff person made a big deal of the "beaver dam" and we never found it.
If I had it to do over again then I would skip this one.

This place offers lots of history. They also hold working shops like quilting. They hold out door yard sales in the summer.

Well curated local artifacts. Excellent knowledgeable guides keen to tell you the Wallace story. Beautiful gardens near the museum building. Enjoyed seeing the local rug hookers working away that day on their crafts.

This was a very lovely and informative museum with a lot of facinating history and artifacts from this shipbuilding area. The museum staff were friendly and VERY knowledgeable, adding personal stories of what they heard and had been told by other local people. I'm not even a huge history/museum buff and I really enjoyed our stop at the Wallace and Area Museum!!!
