Got to go look inside a plane and sit in the cockpit!! Both me and my 4 year old thoroughly it!!
So many cool things to look at inside as well. Really friendly staff as well who were happy to answer any questions.
Will definitely be coming back with my husband to show him!

This aviation museum is well worth a visit. A massive amount of work has gone into this place and it is fascinating. Interesting and helpful volunteers who give up their time to keep it open. Don't be fooled by the outside, it is a tardis !

This is much more than museum of exhibits. It is a memorial to, as the Museum's website says, "...Manx men and women who served their Island in the cause of freedom; to those people of other nations who were brought to our shores by wartime service and to all those who, in war and peace, have lost their lives in the Isle of Man in aviation accidents". As just one example, there is a relief map of the Island showing the location of every known aircraft crash - it really makes you appreciate how many people lost their lives from this cause alone.
It is a really well-maintained and well-labelled collection, overseen, on our visit, by Ivor - that's Ivor Ramsden, one of the founders, who has been awarded the MBE for his efforts. Ivor is hugely knowledgeable and we had some long and informed discussions on a number of topics. Given that entry is free, this museum, on the site of Ronaldsway Airport, is a must for any aviation or military enthusiast.

Terry Jackson was absolutely brilliant - it’s shocking that the history of The Isle of Man and its role in the war isn’t taught in the U.K. school curriculum. We went to a few museums and this one was the best.

We visited this museum when we had an hour before we had to check in for our flighr- what a mistake this was as 1 hour was nowhere near enough to enjoy this amazing place!
I have been to a few military museums and this is, by far, one of the best. The volunteer we spoke to was so interesting and then the exhibits were really engrossing, covering the Manx contributions to the First World War, the Manx Regiment in the Second World War, a brief history of Manx Airlines and the RAF presence on the island.
Everything was really interesting and there were some amazing items on display too, such as the general communique from Fieled Marshal Montgomery to the desert rats when the War ended. Its hard to believe no funding came from the Manx government!
If you're visiting the island, make sure yoy pt aside a relaxed 1.5 hours to visit this place!

This museum close to Ronaldsway airport contained a huge amount of military memorabilia and is obviously the result of a labour of love over many years by the founders/owners. We wish were able to spend more time there. Highly recommended.

Hi everyone my pleasure to leave a review of Manx military and aviation museum what a hidden gem this is popped in before my flight today I met Ivor and John who are so passionate and maintain this wonderful museum I had a special personal tour of the Manx airline dc10 ( I think) felt like a child again sat in Capt seat. Made an announcement haha Uvor is so knowledgeable honestly if I didn’t work full time on the railway I would work here fabulous display of military items from WW1 and how the Isle of Man played its part poignant reminders of postcards photos etc
It is free admission but donations are welcome for the upkeep
Easy to find 5 mins walk from main terminal st Ronaldsway and cracking view of runway. Beautiful memorial garden too xx. Please visit a Must see

An amazing little gem of a museum, with a labyrinth of rooms. The information is astounding, the history comprehensive of World War I and WW2 with artefacts from both. You need a good 2-3 hours to see it all. Sadly we only had 1 hour which was kindly extended to 90 minutes by Ivor Ramsden MBE who was at the desk.
The museum is FREE with donations readily accepted and easily given as it is such a wonderful museum. I even saw a reference to a paddle steamer my grandfather was the Captain of!!
They even have a Bandeirante and fully restored complete ATP which they hope to open to the public in due course.
A true hidden gem of a museum which should be visited if only to see the heroism of Manxmen and women as well as the Polish pilots who flew form there.
Truly wonderful!!

From the outside, the museum's Nissen hut looks pretty small. How the volunteers who have assembled, restored, maintained and displayed their amazing collection have quite managed the Tardis-like trick I have no idea, but the museum is anything but small.
The collection covers more than just aviation, with artefacts from both world wars and since. There are an immense amount of personal items: medals, letters, recorded reminiscences. There are also more substantial items, including, for example, complete vehicles, aircraft sections, and some quite moving remains of aircraft which have been lost, many on the mountains of the Isle of Man.
I don't think it would be possible to fully cover everything in the museum in one visit, and it's somewhere you're going to want to return to. This is all the more so due to the enthusiasm and friendliness of the volunteer staff (at least during our visit!). It's pretty typical on the Isle of Man, but amazing and refreshing nonetheless.

Hi! Interested in the Spitfire replica BAPC.283, which I believe was built by Feggans-Brown for the TV series "A Piece of Cake" It would help my research to know (a) what markings it wears, if any (b) where it is at present and (c) what its future holds. Any information you can offer would be most helpful. An added bonus would be an image of it, if you have one to hand.

Thanks for your enquiry. The "Spitfire" now belongs to Isle of Man Bus & Rail and has had a none-too-accurate repaint to resemble MK II Spitfire P7966 which was a Manx presentation aircraft flown by Douglas Bader. We are now doubtful about the history of the thing because it doesn't resemble the replicas built for "Piece of Cake". If you do a Google image search on " Spitfire Snaefell " you will see several photos of it when it was placed near the summit of Snaefell during the summer. Please contact us via the contact page on the museum's website if you require further information.

On our visits to the iom aviation museum we have always found the staff to be very cordial and willing to show and explain the various exhibits there.they do a first class job.
