We turned off the highway at the last moment when we saw the sign to St Anne's Lagoon and weren't disappointed. It's a beautiful, tranquil place.... great for a rest and a picnic.

St Anne's Lagoon is a perfect place for a stopover for a break and to enjoy the scenery and great photography.

Sheltered by trees this is a great spot for break from drive. Toilets are clean and there are seats and tables for a picnic or shorter break. Often bird life to watch in Lagoon. Looks to be cared for by local council.

We stopped for a break and thought a walk around the lagoon would be nice. Inland Sea would better describe its size (lol).Never made it all the way around even after 1.5 hrs walking

We were staying in Gnarama for the Christmas and this was one of the places we visited. Nice wee place to sit under a tree and enjoy a picnic.

Beautiful spot prone to drying up and leaving eels high and dry when demand on water increases. Best to see it outside of peak demand

St Anne's Lagoon is an excellent place to stop and relax on a long car drive between Christchurch and Kaikoura. Just a few minutes north from Cheviot it offers many quiet parking spots around the lagoon where you can stretch your legs, eat at the tables provided, go to the toilet and truly relax as you enjoy the tranquil lake-like scenery and diverse waterfowl. Spring bulbs were in full flower on a cloudless day and there was just the gentlest of breezes blowing through the trees which were all in bud. It was one of those places where you simply MUST take a few photos.

Have been here a couple of times and just love it. Couldn't find many nicer spots for a picnic or just a break from driving.
