These trees are very impressive, gorgeous. If you travel another 50m past the beech trees you will reach the ‘best of all lookouts’ lookout. Very scenic, even on a cloudy day!

You will pass by these ancient trees along the short walk to the Best of All Lookout. Info boards will tell you all you need to know. If you have a vivid imagination they may remind you of the Ents from Lord of the Rings.

On the way to Best of all lookouts, while i have been admiring all the different trees , we stumbled upon some very different ones which happen to be the" the moss laden relics of the last ice age, The Antarctic Beech Trees" ,,, If you are a local or traveller ,When ever you get a chance , you wont regret your visit ,,,,

These antarctic beeches are ancient, at least 2000 years old, and they look it - incredibly gnarled into amazing sculptural shapes. The access to them is slightly strange, just off the track to the 'best-of-all lookout', not a coincidence as the high altitude conditions have allowed the trees to survive. They are just a small group of trees (reading guidebooks you might get the impression of a whole forest of them up there) and they are fenced off, which is probably a good idea given the number of visitors. In an ideal world, you'd find these trees somewhere on a challenging hiking trail rather than next to a car park, but I guess they are where they are, and its great to see them anyway.

A visit into the Gold Coast Hinterland is well worth a visit!
Large Antarctic Beech Trees dominate the area.
All types of foliage , trees and interesting natural species can be seen or studied.
Windy drive , narrow at times, take care please.

So close to humanity, but a million miles from. A secret enchanted location , fit for a scene from avatar. Mother tree in its natural form , ancient beech trees living together at over 1000m above sea level only half an hour from the Gold Coast .
After walking the short 300m to the beech trees , it’s only another 50 m to the best of all lookout , and it truly is . And on your return to you can stop at a number of waterfall lookouts and have a nice morning tea at the fudge shop

There are many natural sights and one of these are the antarctic beech trees. Amazing root structure and you have to crane your head to see the tops. They are on the way to Natural Arch.

We were quite lucky to see Antarctic Beech Trees. There are very few spots to find them. They can be found in cool temperate rain forests. In Southern Queensland, which is where we were,
We can find some of the Antarctic Beech Trees. They are found between 480 meters to 1550 meters high and it needs a temperate to cool temperatures.
These trees looked like crumpled trees with large roots. At least for the two trees I found. I was amazed. They were very old! What a great find!
This was my highlight on that day!
This is a must see!
