Quite a drive to get out to Springbrook but totally worth the effort. Partner is into the stars and Planets etc , so I went for him and didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I found Andre so informative and knowledgeable and loved his facilities. Got to look thru the telescope and see clearly the rings around Saturn. Even saw a shooting star with my naked eye because the sky was so clear out there. Will go back for sure. Just a hint ... wear layers of warm clothes as it's cold.

This was a wonderful visit, as Andre took us out to the telescope and focused on the moon, then Saturn, and Jupiter. I had asked to see Saturn, so was given the first look. Everyone in our group had a chance to look through the telescope, and there was a stopladder for children. I recommend this visit for children over eight (or younger if they are interested in the Galaxy). This visit was part of a Scenic Tour which visited the Glow Worms and the Observatory. I recommend that you take a warm jacket and hat as Springbrook is much cooler than the coast.

We were able to get out to the Springbrook Observatory in mid-December on a stunningly clear night. The host was excellent, very passionate about the place and the observations made from this site. We all got to look through the telescope at some amazing heavenly bodies and close up of the moon too. It was a worthwhile drive for us to experience some more dark sky observations, it makes you realize how tiny we are in this massive universe when you see the sky light up like it does out here with millions of stars.

We arrived at Springbrook Observatory about 7.30pm & were met by an amazing man who talked to us all about the stars & planets & we all got to have a look through a massive telescope. It was very interesting.

Visited here as part of glow worm tour. This place was great, even though there was cloud cover, Andre was fabulous, catching what we could despite the weather, super explanations, lovely and humorous fellow. We all had a turn on the telescope that was very impressive, plus the live feed of the view on video was also impressive. His photo and meteorite collections are not to be missed.

I also visited here as part of the glow worm tour with Scenic Tours.
Must say it was the best part of the whole tour.
We were greeted by Andre who runs the facility. We were introduced to one of his telescopes where he gave a fun & interesting talk on all things astronomy at a level that your average person could understand.
It was evident how passionate Andre is about what he does - & it rubs off on you. We ended up staying here longer than planned just chatting to him about his work here.
I would highly recommend a visit here the next time your in Springbrook.

We visited the observatory as part of a glow worm tour with scenic tours... it was fantastic and the highlight of my kids night.
A night full of adventures wandering through rain forest to the glow worms could only be topped by something amazing and our time here was that.
Once we had arrived and met Andre we walked up the part to the telescope - a cool night but the skies were clear.
Andre has a great sense of humour and happily answered my kids continuous questions.... we spent time looking at Jupiter, Saturn and the moon.... Wonderful viewing and a night my kids will never forget.
It was great to warm up with a nice cuppa after we had spent about 40 minutes outside... chatting with Andre and checking out the many interesting items he had around for viewing.
