It’s a treasure to discover: tasting of honey products including mead. The welcome is warm, the explanations clear and interesting. We see that it is the passion for bees and history that is at the heart of this place. Not to be missed: the Musée de la Neufve-France located upstairs. Hundreds of artifacts bear witness to human occupation of the territory of North America for thousands of years.

Vieux Moulin- Vin de miel on route 141 in Ste-Flavie welcomes you to its magnificent ancestral building. Free parking on site. You will find great products: honey, mead, honey nectar, honey peanuts, caramel, jelly, candy, creamy honey, linden honey, etc. The cleanliness of the premises is impeccable. The service is excellent and the attendant gives us all the relevant information to make our purchases. On the 2nd floor, a mini museum on New France, interesting to visit.
It’s a healthy gourmet stop with natural products, honey has beneficial properties.

Just some feedback on the 2 swarms purchased from you and which I received at the beginning of June.
Regarding swarm1 with 50% losses, it never managed to regain strength even when feeding sugar and patty almost continuously. The queen marked yellow lays very little so I decided to change her this week (I removed her yesterday and I will put a new one from Anicet tomorrow evening).
In fact since June the bees have only built one frame, so there is definitely a problem.
I don't really think I can save this colony for the winter.
Concerning the swarm2 with less loss, the population has increased but the problem is that the bees build the frames in a completely anarchic way no matter how so I have to clean each time. Furthermore, the queen disappeared about 2 weeks ago so I bought a queen from Anicet and the introduction of the new queen worked well and I hope that I will be able to save this colony so that she can move on. Winter.
Obviously none of the colonies have made honey and they are constantly fed.
Overall the result is very disappointing. I would advise distant customers against purchasing your swarms because transportation destroys almost all chances of saving the colony.
If I compare with the other swarm purchases I made this spring, this is really the worst result by far.
I don't know what you think but I have the impression that the transport also damaged the queens.
In fact, if I compare with the swarms purchased elsewhere, it’s as if the bees were sick.

À toutes les fois que nous avons de la visite du Québec ou autres, nous nous faisons une joie de les amener à la boutique de Vin de miel. Beaucoup de produits vous serons offerts. Ne manquez pas d'acheter leurs vinaigrettes à la moutarde et miel, vous y reviendrez pour en racheter, elle est excellente.

On a pas vu le moulin mais il y a une belle ruche à l’intérieur où on voit les abeilles travailler. Vin très douteux et petites bouteilles d’hydromel pétillant pas buvable. Enfin c’est évidement une question de goût. Pas mal osé de faire payer un musée au premier étage.

De passage à Sainte-Flavie, au tout début de notre périple en Acadie et aux Îles de la Madeleine, en septembre 2021, nous avons fait un bref arrêt à l’hydromellerie du Vieux-Moulin (entreprise familiale née à la fin des années 70) pour y acheter quelques produits du terroir dérivés de miel, excellents choix à rapporter comme souvenirs ou cadeaux aux parents et amis comme leurs miellines (bonbons artisanaux) et les petites boules eucalyptus et miel. Malheureusement, il ne restait plus de leur produit phare, lequel s’est mérité plusieurs distinctions au fil des années (Médaille d’or à la Coupe des Nations 2011), le fameux hydromel de bleuet (vin de miel) succulent avec des desserts (sorbets, tartes aux fruits) ou comme de coulis. À notre prochaine visite peut-être. Le vieux moulin à farine dans laquelle est établie l’hydromellerie depuis 1995, date de 1830. Le site entourant le Vieux-Moulin mérite le détour, le temps d’une petite randonnée ou d’un petit pique-nique au bord du ruisseau (voir les photos en P.J.).

Un arrêt des plus agréables à Saint-Flavie! Il faut goûter à leurs miels de saison, les hydromels à base de framboises et de bleuets ainsi que leurs herbes salées.

Nous avons fait un arrêt au vieil moulin comme à chaque année pour y faire nos provisions de vin au miel . Toujours aussi bon .
