a bit untidy. I like the place, its story is amazing but the staff is not there to help and explain. I was expecting something more I must admitt

Worth 30 mins out of your trip to take a look . Albeit most of the tower is actually empty once inside . Some great views though from the little windows .

Υπέροχος πύργος, συμβολο για την Ουρανουπολη, σπουδαία ευρήματα και σε επιβλητική θέση μπροστά στο λιμάνι με θέα από τα παράθυρα που σε καθηλώνει. Ειναι, όμως, αναξιοποιητος, δεν μπορείς να επισκεφθείς όλους τους χώρους του.. Χρήζει συντήρησης... Ειναι κρίμα ένα τέτοιο διαμάντι για την περιοχή να μένει σχεδόν αναξιοποιητο..... 3€ κοστίζει η είσοδος για τους ενήλικες και δωρεάν για τα παιδιά.

Попасть внутрь не удалось, но внешний вид этой башни вызывает какое-то уважение, что ли. Вот музей бы еще внутри сделали, цены бы ей не было!

Πρόκειται για το τοποσημο της Ουρανούπολης, που μπορεί να αποτελέσει αφετηρία ενός ταξιδιού για τον επισκέπτη για να δει διάφορα αξιοθέατα της περιοχής. Εμείς ως ενήλικες πληρώσαμε ένα εισητηρίο 3€ το άτομο για την επίσκεψη μας. Ο χώρος είναι ανοιχτός από το πρωί μέχρι τις 15.30 τις καθημερινές εκτός Τρίτης που είναι κλειστός. Το μουσείο δίνει τη δυνατότητα να αποκτήσει κανείς πληροφορίες σχετικά με την ιστορία της Χαλκιδικής σε Προχριστιανικη και Χριστιανική εποχή, καθώς και για το Άγιο όρος και το κοινωνικό έργο ενός ξένου ζεύγους (Loch) στους κατοίκους της Ουρανούπολης. Παρόλο που διευκρινίζεται ότι η αναστήλωση του χώρου στόχευε στην αποτροπή παρέμβασης στην ιδιαίτερη ιδιορρυθμία του ως κτήριο-μνημειο, σε γενικές γραμμές θα μπορούσε να έχει αξιοποιηθεί και να συντηρηθεί κάπως καλύτερα ο χώρος ώστε να διηγείται καλύτερα την πολύπλευρη ιστορία που εκπροσωπεί.

Los trabajadores son muy amables. En la recepción tuvimos la suerte de encontrarnos con María, que habla un español perfecto y es simpatiquísima. No nos pudo acompañar como guía durante todo el recorrido, pues no es su función, pero nos explicó la historia del lugar y nos recomendó qué más ver por la zona. No hay muchos españoles y se alegró mucho de conocernos.

Malutka wieżyczka bizantyjska w miasteczku portowym w Ouranoupolis. Warto przyjechać na Półwysep Athos i zobaczyć z daleka monastyry. Coś fajnego ...:)

I am desperately keen to visit this Byzantine Tower, having read Joice Loch's autobiography (Fringe of Blue) and the biography (Blue Ribbons, Bitter Bread) by Susanna de Vries. We stayed at the Eagles Palace last May and, disappointingly, the Tower was closed. We would like to visit again next year and I would be grateful if you can tell me the date on which the Tower opens to the public so that I can plan our visit to include it.

We were there one week ago (3th of March) and also we go specialy to ouranoupolis to see the museum in the tower, but also closed. I didn't find opening hours anywhere , so I think the museum is closed.

We stayed at the Eagles Palace in May and having read Joice Loch's autobiography and biography, I was very disappointed that the museum in the Tower was closed. Please can you tell me when it is open? We plan another visit next year in May or June and it would help our planning to know the dates and times of opening. Thank you! Jean Vickers

I plan to visit Greece in 2018 and am keen to see the Tower of Prosforios (Byzantine) in Ouranoupolis. An Australian, Joice NanKivell Loch and her British husband Sydney, lived in this tower for many years (1926-1982) and were dedicated to the people of the area. The tower has much history. I want so much to visit and explore. It seems that it if often closed but I can't seem to find any info about the times it is opened. Can anyone help?

As far as I can tell, the tower isn't open for the public. You can only see the exterior.
