I'd steer clear for a while till they finish whatever it is they are doing on the site, large sections taped off, heavy plant machinery and vans driving up and down the trail. They must be spending a small fortune.
Surprising as they had to close the Photo hides a few years back as they couldn't afford the upkeep 🤷♂️.
I suspect it may have been closed for different reasons, either way it was a poor decision from the centre management, the other hides aren't great for photographers at all. New parking charges are actually pretty good, £3 and I can then bypass the membership sales pitch in the centre.

I can't imagine a better place to introduce children to nature than RSPB Lochwinnoch, and adults will be delighted by it too. It is a small reserve but full of surprises. For children it is a natural playground whilst for adults there is plenty of bird activity on the loch to see. We heard woodpeckers and enjoyed the lapwings swooping over the loch. Do bring binoculars! When we visited we walked the woodland trail to a soundtrack of birdsong. The RSPB centre is welcoming and includes an observatory, a shop and a small cafe. Knowledgeable wardens are on hand to answer any questions you have. All in all, the place comes across as somewhere much-loved with lots of engaging details, as well as being somewhere to keep returning to.

Came today to buy some binoculars for my holiday, we got help from a lovely lady who was really nice and very very helpful she took us outside and tried a few pairs out, I left really happy with my purchase,excellent customer service Thankyou

What a wonderful place! Visited today for the first time and will be back! Beautiful woodland walk with stunning autumnal colours. Lots of peace & quiet. Very relaxing sitting in the bird hide looking out on the loch, the hills - and the birds! Would thoroughly recommend a visit!

We were on a three day tour of Loch Lomond and Lochwinnoch. We arrived just on 8.00 , the reserve visitor centre was still closed , but as members to the RSPB we could start our walk around reserve. It was amazing, the sun was starting to peer through the trees. We saw so many birds, geese and ducks, our favourite ones were the little Gold Crest, they are so quick but we managed to get photos and the tree creeper and the king fisher . I bought my wife a Monocular , which she loves as they are very light. It was a great day and end to our tour of the two Loch

From woodpeckers to sparrows all sorts of birds to be seen, lovely walk and a hide too! Otters are about if you are lucky, nice wee RSPB shop and you can get coffee. Lovely viewing area upstairs and downstairs they have bird feeders with viewing windows

Great places when weather permits good Selection of Birds and wildlife on the Loch and Surrounding Fields good footwear or Wellies recommended also great for photos Car park and Train Station next to RSPB Defo worth a visit ⭐⭐⭐⭐👍

Hi, thanks for your review, we are a little under water right now, with being a natural wetlands. Sticking to the trails is always advised option in any weather due to our SSI areas. Glad to see you still had fun , regardless of typical Scots rain. Hope we see you again soon!!

We spent a lovely couple of hours here. The visitor centre is full of helpful staff and information and you can get a cup of tea. There are feeders and binoculars and there are great views of birds on the Loch from the upstairs viewing area.
The walks around the centre cost £3 if you're not an RSPB member, and we particularly enjoyed watching an otter for about 20 minutes from the hide. We also saw bank voles, rats and a variety of birds on the Loch and at the feeders.

you walk as far as you wish to do the whole place about two hours. we walk the aird loch track this takes half an hour.

depends on the weather,you can spend hours walking here and birdwatching. For us with a small child an hour is enough but only because she is fussy on how long she will walk.
