An Insight into Regency Elegance

A very interesting tour! The story of the people and the house is so exciting! Wandering around the house, touching ancient walls, looking into cloudy mirrors, admiring old photographs and paintings, books and toys, delicate china and silverware - all was so insightful and real! The atmosphere of the house is a living history. Our fantastic guide delivered all the details about the house, I'm really greatful for a tour. Gardens are also very beautiful.

This is a beautiful place.The walks are stunning but our walk was restricted due to a disability. We would have been able to see much more if there were more seats available .The garden itself is inaccessible to anybody with a disability.

Très jolie visite des jardins et l'arboretum

Belle visite à faire si non loin de Cork. L'entrée est gratuite, juste le parking de 2€. Ce n'est pas le jardin botanique, mais il y a beaucoup de variété de fleur dans des allées + l'arboretum. Pas de coin pique-nique. Il y a également un zoo que l'on n'a pas visité.

Great tour guide
Really enjoyed our guided tour of house. We were a family with 3 generations and our tour guide Joanna made the experience fun & informative for all.

All the staff here were friendly & welcoming & we would highly recommend

Wonderful garden walk and surprising house tour

We were welcomed at the ticket counter and bought a ticket for the 12:00 tour. We had a coffee from the tea room and then spent an hour walking through the gardens. The trees and shrubs were just blooming. The variety is spectacular. The green houses were not open yet, but we very much enjoyed our walk. Rose was our guide on the house tour, and she was wonderful. Not only did she know the history of the house and it's occupants, but she regaled us with stories of the furnishings. She provided wonderful stories of what it was like being a servant in the house from first hand accounts of a woman who had worked in the house as a servant and who lived in the nearby village. We are very glad we chose to visit Fata House instead of the Blarney stone.

Excellent Gardens

Since it was early March the Fota House was not open and the cafe was closed. Tours were not available.
The gardens are beautiful with a diverse set of plants from temperate areas around the world.. The paths were able to accommodate a baby stroller without any problems.
There were very few visitors and ample parking, but the people we were staying with said it was very busy in the summer.

Snakes and shamrocks trail

Had a lovely time here yesterday for the Snakes and Shamrocks trail. The kids loved doing the trail and reading the facts and completing the trail. They were delighted with their jelly snakes at the end. This was followed by lots of running around and exploring in the gorgeous gardens and tree climbing. Lovely cafe which has good coffee and pastries.

One of the best tours I've ever done, Mick was absolutely amazing, a credit to the Fota volunteer team and such a font of knowledge - I could have listened to him for hours!
Beautiful house and gardens, will definitely be back!

Santa Experience from Hell

My family and I visited the Santa Experience at Fota House this year. My partner, 10 year old son, 2 year old son, 5 month old daughter and myself. The day was ruined before be even got to the door as another family who had a supposed autistic daughter (don't know this for sure) assaulted my 2 small kids and myself on the walk from the carpark. I was left with spit all over my jacket my daughter and son were slapped and the father of the daughter was very aggressive towards us and didn't even offer an apology. The whole walk from the carpark to the house there was not one security/steward or even Christmas elf to monitor people coming and going. My children were distraught from what happened and couldn't enjoy the experience. My daughter had to be brought away and my 2 year old son was not himself at all (he waited all year to see him, one of few small kids who absolutely loves Santa). The staff i met were very nice especially the woman who tried her best to cheer my 2 year old up. It took the manager 3 days to contact me as they were "on a day off" which was ridiculous in my opinion. Seemed more interested in trying to convince me that they were not liable for anything than actually trying the rectify the situation. It is now 2 weeks later my son hasn't slept a full night since, still speaks about the "girl spit on me" whenever Santa is mentioned and still no sign of my refund. Will never ever visit this place ever again, start to finish it was terrible and still not resolved.

Santa at Fota house

Came here with my husband and 11month for his first trip to see Santa. The overall experience leading up to seeing Santa was very good and it was lovely to walk around the old house.

When we got there it was pouring rain and we went to take shelter under the enter ace of the house as there was nobody there. We were quickly told we’re weren’t allowed to stand there.

When we saw Santa there was no option to have a proper photo taken. We were asked for our phones (which during Covid is unsanitary) and every single picture we have is blurry.
It’s really disappointing and not really what your paying to go to Santa for. When we got out of the room we were carrying three coats two bags and an 11month old we asked could we put his coat on before goi g outside (as we were shoed out the door from Santa and it again was still pouring rain outside) but we were told no we had to go straight out. There was nobody in the hall.

Overall probably wouldn’t recommend it to be honest which again is such a shame.
