A breathtaking tribute to those who fought and died for us. I was not expecting the grandeur, the fountains, the gardens, the sculpture, the pristine condition. The visitors' center was exquisitely done with a short video describing the landing, the war, the players. Then beautiful photographs of some of the soldiers with their personal stories were presented. It really made you think. By chance we met the superintendent, Melanie. Thank you for doing such a beautiful job and keeping history alive in this sensitive and lovely fashion.

This is an easy trip out of Rome, but a little more time-consuming coming up from Naples. Grounds are beautiful and the museum is very informative that chronicles the Italian battles beginning with the invasion of Sicily and ending with the liberation of Rome. Moving in a way similar to what I experienced when visiting Normandy. Approximately 8,000 graves on site with a wall of the missing. Grounds are surprisingly expansive and parking is easy. One of the best stops in our 25 day tour of Italy.

Operai sempre al lavoro e perciò tenuto in maniera impeccabile questo luogo della memoria. Ricordo che ogni croce rappresenta un ragazzo venuto oltre Atlantico a morire per la nostra libertà, mi sono recato in parecchi di questi luoghi sparsi per l’Italia e uscendo mi rendo conto di quanto sia distruttiva la guerra.

Al termine della seconda guerra mondiale, le varie nazioni costrruirono cimiteri di guerra permanenti, a ricordo ed onoranza dei loro Caduti. Gli Stati Uniti d'America vollero onorare i loro soldati caduti nel corso della lunga e accanita battaglia di Anzio. Il cimitero è bellissimo ed è molto curato....impressionanti le file e file di croci che ricordano i militare caduti, di svariata origine ( anche italiana ) e religione ( cattolica ed ebraica ),che ci ricordano come gli USA siano un vero melting pot di popoli !Bellissimo e impressionante il Sacrario,in fondo all'area cimiteriale. Vale la pena di visitare questo posto, per ricordarci di quanto sia crudele la guerra.

Americký válečný hřbitov v Nettunu je jedním ze dvou na italském území. Spočívá zde více než 7800 vojáků, kteří padli při osvobození Sicílie, u Salerna, Anzia a v průběhů bojů při rožšíření předmostí. Letci i členové námořnictva. Dále, v překrásné kapli, jsou vryta jména více než 3000 pohřešovaných. Jsou zde pohřbeni i dva držitelé Medaile cti, Sylvester Antolak a Robert T. Waugh. Hřbitov je krásně upravený, čístý, uklizený, neustále se o něj někdo stará. Takže vlastně žádné překvapení, funguje to úplně stejně jako na jiných amerických hřbitovech v Evropě. Hřbitov má i své vlastní, opravdu maličké muzeum, kde si můžete přečíst něco o válce v Itálii a nebo o zajímavých lidech, kteří jsou zde pohřbení. K vidění bylo i pár věcí z války, ne všechno však bylo autentické. WC je zde taktéž samozřejmostí, vstup se neplátí žádný. Jestliže cestujete po Itálii kvůli válečným věcem, tohle prostě nesmíte minout. Vřele doporučuji.

Our visit to Anzio was to be close to our family (who live in Roma) and to meet up with friends (who live in Latina). We had a free morning and drove along the coast. We saw the cemetery and went in. We were both touched deeply. The short video was very well done as was the exhibit. The grounds were immaculately kept - as they should be. My regret is that we did not purchase flowers as we would have liked to honor the spirit of those who gave their lives for freedom.

As part of our vacation in Italy, we made a special trip to this cemetery. My Uncle was killed near Nattuno while serving in the US Army during WWII. This is a beautiful and very well maintained cemetery. The staff were extremely kind and helpful in locating his grave. As sad as our loss of him is, it is a relief to know that he is being so well cared for. Even if you don't have a family member buried here, it is a special place to see. It is only about an hour train ride from Rome and then an easy 10-15 walk to the cemetery.

How much time is needed to fully get the memorial? Looking at trains back to Rome. Will 2.5 hours be enough or should u plan for 3.5

We had a guide, so that helped. We spent about 21/2 hrs. there. Worth every minute. Short video, good walk through interactive displays and finally the cemetery. Make certain you take the time to walk to the through the gravesides and to the chapel and auxillary building. It is worth the walk. The Nettuno rail station is close enough to walk to it- depends on your walking skills. We hired a official guide, Danila, for the 6 of us and worth every penny.

I can't help you with the public transport question, but there are no admission costs. Very nice visitor center just inside the cemetery gates on the right that doubles as an informative museum. Enjoy your visit!

My husband and I will be taking the train from Rome on 5/28/2017 for the Memorial Day service. I have read that you can take a taxi from the train station to the cemetery, but I do not have any information for taxi service in Nettuno. My husband is 76 and can not walk very far due to hip and leg problems. What are my choices for transportation to the cemetery? (my uncle is buried there and I have wanted to see his grave for a long time. Thank you

This isn't very helpful but I saw no taxi's at the train station. I would perhaps try to make transportation accommodations in advance. There is no uber outside of Rome and my experience in Nettuno was pretty isolated. its very residential and I did not encounter a very tourist-friendly atmosphere. The visit is really breathtaking once you are in the cemetery. so worth it!

Can anyone tell me if the train station at Nettuno offers baggage storage? We will be traveling from Rome, then onwards to Florence that day. Just stopping at the cemetery (Yes, we know it's the wrong way) :)

There is baggage storage in Rome but not in Nettuno. it would have been impossible to drag your bag to the cemetery.

Hello, I have the location (Plot A Row 7 Grave 22) but cannot locate a map of the cemetery online. Is it easy to find a specific marker?
I'm afraid of wandering for several hours.

We didn't look for a specific grave but there are guards that are very helpful and will be happy to help..Just ask the men inside..

Hi, from Naple take A1/E45 aprox. 150 Km. than on the exit to Froisnane to SS156 - 55 Km. till Borgo Piave - there take SS 148 aprox. 15 Km. till SP87b around 11 Km and u arrive to Nettuno- Piazzale Kenedy - the cemetry is on your left side.Jave a nice visit (it takes close to 3 hours drive)

We were at Anzio but had travelled by train to Rome.....only a few Euro each way. The trains run frequently.
