Yes this lokon volcano closed again since 8 november 2024 acording of news
But 15 january 2025 .i am Jotje lala as tour guide and owner of jotje lala tours and travel could hiked this volcano with group tourist from kinabalu malay .
They contacted in my whatsapp +6289515507588 but this tour is adventure tour and was not stay long time on the edge of lokon volcano crater. If you need information you ask google jotje lala.

My family and I had an exceptional experience with Mr. Jotje, a local guide specializing in Lokon Volcano and the attractions around Tomohon in northern Sulawesi. Mr. Jotje is highly professional and goes above and beyond to ensure the best possible experience for his clients. We even requested an airport transfer at the extremely early hour of 3:30 am, and he arrived 20 minutes ahead of time, making sure we were all awake and ready to depart from our resort. I highly recommend his services if you're looking for a reliable and flexible tour guide who can plan every detail of your stay in Tomohon, allowing you to enjoy the breathtaking nature and attractions with complete peace of mind. Walked with Guide to crater rim. Without Guide is also fine, from Tomohon that is two hours walk. Guides usually start (short car ride) at the point that it is still an hour walk: easy walk over rocks and stones to the crater rim. With a nice view of the active volcano. Continuous smoking and smelling. You can go around the crater rim for three quarters of an hour with a view of Bunaken.
Further up to the top you seem to take a few more hours: goes more difficult through tall grass and very tall grass.
Guide Jotje reacts quickly, speaks good English and knows how to make the trip alive with his knowledge. Adjusts the walking pace to the kids and shoots everyone until their camera is full or their battery is empty.
Try to go as early as possible in the morning (06:00 - 07:00), then it is clearest and obviously less hot.

The locon mountain is very easy to reach, about 2 hours from the cafe de locon or the rainbow. There are many birds and endemic animals in Sulawesi, but the Lokon mountain is still active and must see a warning when climbing the Lokon mountain.

When traveling the Minahasa highlands, I was looking for a guide with a scooter to show me around a day. Luckily I was advised Ichy who picked me up in the hotel lobby on time and was a kind companion for my day. We went up Lokon volcano at first and afterwards also visited Mahawu volcano and lake Linow. For me, Lokon was definitely most impressive and worth a visit! After our third stop, Ichy had furthers ideas which places we could visit additionally but honestly, I was tired and happy with my adventures so far. :)
For anyone traveling solo and looking for a nice guy to be guided around, I'd like to recommend Ichy. He's friendly, punctual and a save driver. His English is sufficient to understand any question of a traveler and if he's not sure how to answer properly, he's good in dealing with Google translate on his phone. ;) You can contact Ichy via WhatsApp on +62 853-9781-5087.

The Lokon Volcano hike is amazing and worth the effort, I have never experienced anything like this before. The hike itself is anywhere from 1-1.5hr to get up to the crater depending on your physical fitness (I would say it is accessible to most able-bodied people). The hike takes you through plains, forests and then rocky areas clearly affected by previous eruptions with interesting topography geological formations due to laval and magma. Once you make it up there, the crater is absolutely massive and very impressive. As this is still an active volcano, the crater is still smoking and makes for an exciting exploration. I would definitely recommend going with a guide because the trail to the crater is not obvious.
I did my Lokon Volcano tour with local guide Jotje Lala, I felt VERY safe as a solo female traveller under his care. I would highly recommend booking any North Sulawesi tour with him, he has so much experience with all the attractions in the area, including those that are lesser known. He can tailor your trip to however you like and he will take care of everything from A-Z, it was truly incredible service. I also went to Linow Lake (a collapsed volcano which resulted in the creation of a sulfuric lake - very interesting and a must do!), visited some rice paddies and had a lunch at an amazing local BBQ restaurant. I then went to Tangkoko for 1 night and did a couple of hikes looking for unique endemic species to the region (tarsiers, cuscus, hornbills etc) and also visited the beautiful Tanun Waterfall on the way back to Manado. I booked these 2 days with Jotje and received an amazing experience.

น้ำตกมีเส้นทางเดินง่าย แต่ค่อนข้างชัน เดินไปกลับราวๆ 2 กม.
ทะเลสาปLinowไฮไลต์อยู่ที่แอ่งน้ำเดือดจากความร้อนใต้แผ่นดิน เห็นแล้วwow สุดๆ
เรามาช่วงที่มังคุดกำลังออก มีลางสาดด้วย ขายตลอดข้างทาง เลยได้แวะซื้อกินไปเรื่อยๆด้วย

The top of lokon volcano is not in the crater of lokon tompaluan active steaming.but still 1 and half hour more climbing to summit point.
