My granddaughter (15) and I headed out August 23rd to Captivate in Wakefield. I had promised her for awhile that we would go. When we arrived we saw many different animals. After paying and getting our helmets we waited to be assigned our horses. My horse was Santana. We had the 30 minute mini training course. I am not sure of all their names but the young lady was very good at explaining things. I do wish everyone had of listened as it was evident they hadn’t once we started on the trails. We then headed out. We had two guides one gentlemen at the front and one towards the back of the pack. We were at the very back. It was a lovely trail we enjoyed it immensely. I would recommend this activity to everyone.

The introductory lesson is great to give a first time rider and limited experience rider basic instruction and time to get to know your assigned horse prior to gong on the trail. Rides in other parts of Canada and other countries have simply put us on a horse that has been trained to ignore the rider and simply follow the horse in front. Staff was friendly and helpful. The animals looked healthy and well treated. A very good experience.

Located in the heart of the Gatineau hills, Captiva farms gave us a wonderful experience of horseback riding. None of us were experienced riders, so we purchased a 30 minute introductory session. Very helpful. Staff were warm and friendly. Animals were healthy and calm. Effort was made to match riders with the appropriate horse. The Trailride gave us a mix of field hills and Forest. And absolutely stunning day. Very likely we will return in the fall when colours are at their peak. Would give this business high marks. And recommend it to anyone.

we went to captiva farms for grand-daughters birthday. although our guide "sara" was amazing , some of the staff where just rude as can be. if you don't like children you are in the wrong business...my grandchild was told "your gonna ride what i give you" when she said she wanted the white horse...seriously she is 4 years old. after spending almost $200 bucks i left dissapointed with the experience. the owner's sister was also there and looked like she was pissed off at the world. tried to have a conversation with her but she looked like she could not care less.

I have been riding for 40 years so have to admit that it was extremely tame and timid for me. They insist on giving you an intro lesson no matter how much experience you have (i.e. heels down, lean forward going up hills, lean backward going down, etc.). Don't expect to go any faster than a slow walk. I almost fell asleep on the horse. The other animals on the farm were fun to visit with (ponies, alpacas, donkey, dogs). There is no working bathroom or anywhere to wash your hands after the ride - you get a port-o-potty.

We took our group of daughters on a trail ride. Although I did not ride the girls and my sister-in-law all said it was absolutely beautiful. The surrounding were gorgeous - in fact I had one of the most peaceful naps with the windows open and the breeze blowing in while they were riding. The only thing I could recommend improving on is the friendliness and patience of the young female staff. A couple of them were great but I watched the lesson portion and a couple were less than patient with new or inexperienced riders. Also the young woman who was at reception could use a tune up in the customer service department.

My husband and I booked an intro lesson and trail ride on a Saturday and had a great experience. Friendly staff, horses are well taken care of, beautiful farmland. You're riding through field and Forrest - highly suggest wearing SPF and bug spray. We would recommend this outdoor activity to couples or families! My only suggestion for improvement would be a photo opportunity at the start or end of the ride- there were plenty of staff on the ground that could have assisted in doing this. We would have enjoyed this as a souvenir of our time spent at Captiva.
