A wonderful day out ,if you like engines and there working history you will be very impressed. Combined with friendly and helpful people. A nice little cafe with snacks and drinks.A must to see .

OK, let's get one thing straight right away: this is a museum of power - it's full of engines and all kind of technology. If you're not into this kind of stuff, don't visit and then leave a rubbish review, just stay away!
As a time-served, life-long engineer I find this place absolutely fascinating, as does my non-engineer wife. There is the world's oldest working diesel engine and a host of more "modern" engines including steam, gas, petrol and especially diesel. In addition the museum is expanding into many other areas, including radio, telephone systems, motorcycles and much more.
Too much of this stuff is destroyed these days with no respect for heritage and Paul and his team are providing an important service by preserving stuff that would otherwise just disappear.
All the volunteers are enthusiastic and keen to share their knowledge - just ask if you're unsure or want to know more.
There is a handy little on-site cafe supplying drinks and snacks to keep you fueled while you wander round feasting your eyes (and ears!) on the goodies on display. A visit on a crank-up weekend is especially recommended.
The only thing I can add is to urge you to visit this amazing and important refuge of disappearing technology - and leave some money behind to help Paul and his team in their important work.

Well there is certainly a lot to take in, and you wonder how the handful of volunteers keep it so well.
VMARS held it's 24th AGM here and were not disappointed, Michael and Wife Julia, Hazel, Paul and the team all worked together to give us a very warm welcome and if you are in the vicinity of Tan-y-Groes, Tresaith or Cardigan, the museum is an experience not to miss, especially if you are into Engines, Diesel and Steam of all shapes and sizes, some real monsters there, plus Motorcycles and ephemera, a wonderful working display of ships maritime radio, reflecting the wireless office on many a famous Ship, all working with a choice of different aerials. So if you are licensed, dont hesitate to ask and put that station on the air and utilizing the callsign GB2MOP, Phone or Key you wont regret it, the Telephone exchange is wonderful and takes you back in time, and also will be great fun for Children. There is an onsite cafe, so you can be assured of that lovely cuppa, or if you are partial to a Coffee a nice Cappuccino or latte, try the Biscuits and if your lucky Hazel will produce Welsh cakes (Yummy). If your planning a small gathering, speak with the team, a delight to visit, thank you team Stuart VMARS Public relations officer

This place is an absolute fest of information, spent 4 1/2 hours there, came out with my mind boggled, need to go back for another 4 hours to look at things I had missed! Anyone who has the remotest interest in engineering and industrial history will be fascinated. Exhibits go beyond just engines, pumps, compressors and generators with telephones, radio communication, motorcycles and steam. Will have to go back every year to see what else that manage to resurrect and put on display. Take my hat off to the organisers and volunteers who keep this place going.

I think this is a museum of national importance to anyone interested in engines and their history of development in the UK. It id certainly the best museum of its type I have ever visited and the fact that it is so badly signposted and advertised by the Welsh Tourist Board is rather a disgrace.
So many of the great names of British and specifically Birmingham and Bedford engineering are represented by running engines.

Top rated museum for anyone interested in engines.
Only open on weekends currently so check.
They will have a number running during the day, for you to take in the atmosphere.
Good display of motorcycles and they have a working telephone exchange where you can have a go.
Lots of information boards by the engines.
Good second hand book shop.
Very reasonable entry charges.

Outstanding! Far better than the Science Museum in terms of the engines it displays and has working. The afternoon we spent here was probably the highlight of our entire holiday. It's a shame the Welsh Tourist Authorities don't make more of it as it's an absolute must-see. Staff really knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing their expertise, and the telephone hall was a real eye-opener. Loved every minute!

If you like old steam and diesel engines, then this is well worth a visit. Halls of mesmerising machines, from small stationary engines to huge steam pumps. And the telephone and wireless exhibition was a fascinating surprise. The staff/volunteers where welcoming and informative. I really enjoyed the experience.

An absolutely wonderful museum for anyone who is interested in engines. Also they have an operational telephone exchange that is a pure joy to see working. Very well worth visiting.

Great place, now expanded- as well as internal combustion engines it now has a steam hall with about a dozen steam engines. These are plumbed into a boiler so can be seen working (check "in steam" dates on website before visiting). The museum now also has a display of about 30 motorcycles, some of these are unusual makes including Bond, ECM, Levis, Silk & Zenith. Plenty of parking, dog friendly & has a small cafe. Many of the stationary engines are larger than the engines that you would see on a rally field. The staff are enthusiasts and are very happy to chat and answer any questions.

I would agree with what has already been written.
witnessing the operating of the vintage engines working is a great experience.
Children and those not quite so young thoroughly enjoy the telephone exchange.
A visit is well recommended.
