A life-enhancing place.

A visit to Nature in Art is a truly life-enhancing experience. We have been coming here since it opened and there is something new to see each time. The gardens are lovely, the galleries magnificent and the art studios with their visiting artists always a delight.
One pleasure is to see disabled people, those with learning difficulties and children delighting in the experience.

Not least of the pleasures is the cafe with its excellent home-cooked food. The ladies working there are most pleasant and helpful and serve you quickly no matter how busy they are.

A varied collection

Despite living fairly close to Nature in Art for many years this was our first visit and we were both impressed. Essentially, it’s an art gallery, housed in an historic building, devoted entirely to wildlife and environmental art, and it showcases just how wide and varied those subjects can be.

When we visited the special exhibition was ‘Water Universe’ (on till the 20th November) showcasing art based on water droplets by Julie Askew. We were very fortunate that our visit co-incided with the last weekend of her time as artist and residence so we were able to talk to her about her work and the exhibition.

The main collection across two floors and the garden, which is full of the most wonderful sculptures, mainly made from scrap metal, is diverse in both subject and media: paintings, prints and sculpture. Whatever your taste in art you’re pretty much certain to find some pieces you enjoy very much.

Amazing

A very relaxing and informative visit. Some real treasures in sculptures and pictures - and an artist in residence you could talk to and watch! The garden was full of sculptures and the house had a wide variety of art objects and paintings - all about nature. Lovely café with snack lunch items.
All this made for such a nice day - we will be back

Great place to visit if you appreciate the arts. A good range of art work displayed, mainly paintings, sculpture and pottery. Very nice sculpture garden to walk through displaying a range of works formed to represent animals , birds and insects with most of them being fashioned from old vehicle parts! A good coffee shop with food and drink at reasonable prices.

It was great that they had an artist in residence displaying and selling their wares in a detached studio.

It would have been nice to see some textile art / quilting on display to balance up the dominance of the paintings.

The gallery dedicated to Peter Scott was very interesting and informative and the small shop had a good range of books and prints for sale as well as some artist supplies.

Very helpful and friendly staff helped to make it
a very pleasant couple of hours.

Such lovely staff, and fantastic artwork in all kinds of styles

A truly brilliant visit! The museum is packed with a wide variety of artistic styles, which means there is something for everyone. My personal favourites were the pencil drawings and vintage paintings, but I noticed that other people in the museum seemed to be particularly taken with the more vibrant contemporary art and the ceramic pieces and sculptures. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, I had a good chat with every single staff member about the artwork and art in general. Most importantly for me as a wheelchair user, it was much appreciated that every effort was made to accomodate my needs (such as opening doors for me, offering advice on the best way to access certain areas, helping me with the lift, and even offering advice on the accessibility of other local tourist attractions). It is an old building and whilst a lift has been installed, it is unusually small and I had to fold the feet of my wheelchair in so that I could fit in the lift, but with the help of the friendly staff I managed without getting flustered. Thanks to you all! A great place I would recommend to anyone who is passionate about art, nature, or peaceful feel-good environments.

Accessibility Review:
- Disabled toilet available.
- Ramp access to front entrance, side door near coffee house, and artist's studio.
- Lift/elevator available (small, you should enquire for size details if unsure).
- All corridors and doorways wide enough for wheelchair users.
- Quiet environment, no overwhelming lighting or sounds; as someone with autism, I found it a calm environment that was easy to be in.

Very interesting art gallery with a wide variety of exhibits on display. There are more sculptures in the garden and a lovely little café.
Well worth a visit.

Great for a short visit.

Took the kids here for a few hours. A few exciting sculptures in their lovely garden. Then inside I was impressed with some of the art work and photography. Definitely will go again. Staff really welcoming.

There is an excellent and extensive art collection with many absolutely key wildlife artists represented. Welcomers are kind and friendly with plenty for kids. Worth checking the website as there is an extensive range of activities going on through the year.
