I remember this being transformed in the 1980's from what had become wasteland - my Mother used to tell me stories about when it was a working mine. It is fabulous that it has now been transformed as a place for visitors. VERY interesting history and dog friendly (pick it up dogwalkers!!!) A beautiful peaceful afternoon spent

No longer open as a tourist info/demo site. No staff at all, toilets locked, a lot of the car park closed off, but still plenty of room. We were one of only 3 cars. Sadly, it is beginning to fall into disrepair
However, it is still physically there. You can imagine what went on and the flow of material through the site. An interesting place to visit. Also you can join into the Clewedog walks (with free parking to boot). These are very enjoyable to experience and it is possible to walk to the Minera Quarry. You can also access other mountain trails along this trail. Take a picnic and definitely some water, as the walks can take as long as you make them. Peaceful, tranquil, what more can you ask for?

We walked from Nant Mill to the lead mines. There is a large car park which was good. The facilities were closed. It was open to look around and you could just walk in. It is quite an interesting site but could do with better signage regarding the different areas and their history. A lot of the areas could do with some repair as wood has rotted/been vandalised. Weeding or at least some sort of maintenance of plants is also required in places. It has the potential to be quite an interesting site - perhaps the local community could set up a volunteer group to assist this attraction and preserve it.

Smashing place and almost deserted when we visited, almost had it to ourselves.
We completed the long route, so included the quarry as well, one steep incline but the rest was easy walking.
So much history and so unspoilt.
We had a great view of a buzzard, icing on the cake.

Great local history a wonderful place to wander around and learn about the lead mining industry free to all the area covers a quarry disused railway lines and a visitor centre be prepared to spend a good few hours exploring

This was a fun and educational tour. We had our 7 and 10 yr old grandchildren and 92 yr old mother. There was a lot of walking which we had been warned. The children stsued awed. The admission is pricey and we probably won't return due to this. The tour guide gave us good information

This site is well worth a visit. If the centre is open, the display in it is of great interest. Even if it's shut, a walk round the site is well worth it, the engine house and chimney are very striking. There's a large free car park, and you can do a number of walks based here, from easy walking along the Clywdog way and old railway track, the harder hill ascents, I did a walk incorporating both.

A little off the beaten track at the head of a valley.
Plenty trails to follow and the mines have a small but thorough info centre shown the history and geology of the place.
Free Car Parking - very interesting but please go when visitor centre is open to get full benefit.
30-45 mins for the mines/centre.
As long as you need to do the paths, viewpoint and quarry.

Read some of the reviews and decided to go, after following the sat nav from Wrexham town centre arrived on a Sunday afternoon about 15.30 the visitors centre and toilet was open but there didn’t appear much to see or do, had a walk around the old building but it was fenced off so only had the information in the centre to go by, so unless you want to walk your dog I’d not bother again.

Hubby and me visited here yesterday morning (Saturday). It is located not far from Coedpoeth on the outskirts of Wrexham. We followed the brown signs along the B5426 country lane. There is a large free car park with a toilet block (locked when Visitor Centre closed) and picnic area. We were welcomed by a very knowledgeable chap in the Mini Museum who gave us a brief history of the site. We looked at the exhibits and old photographs. This mine flourished in the 1800's despite lead being a highly poisonous metal! It closed down in 1914.
We saw an old pumping-engine house (shame you can't go inside) built over a mine shaft, a tall chimney and a circular buddle pit/sieve. The surrounding area is a country park so it is popular with walkers.
