We visited the park again, for a walk. It is still winter but the weather was reasonable for the time of year. It was interesting to see how the place is with a small number of visitors. It was strange to see that some gates were missing, whilst others were held open. There are benches along the top path, which have memorial placques on them, some are in desperate need of repair and maintenance. Jet washing all of them would remove the moss and dirt. Some gates and fencing are also in desperate need of maintenance, a small gate into an animal enclosure was so rotten it probably will fall apart in moved.
We reached the bank of the River Dee just after 5pm and noticed across the field in the wooded someone had started a fire. By the time we reached the railway viaduct there was a good amount of smoke as well as a very strong smell of the fire.
I understand that most staff are gone by 5pm, there's a house occupied by a ranger. The smell of burning had reached the buildings but nobody was about.
Our daughter likes to look at the animals, the small animal area was closed and locked, which we expected due to the time? There were no large animals in any of the fields, what we saw in the fields were teenagers heading into the wooded area in the vicinity of the fire? Once again we were left wondering if any of the staff care.
Ty Mawr is owned and operated by Wrexham Council, this is our council tax at work, or rather not.

We visited on Sunday afternoon whilst the centre was still open. This is important as it means that staff are present. We walked down to the River Dee, the large beach area looked like the beach at Rhyl but that wasn't the problem. During a heatwave with warnings about wildfires, one group had lit a barbecue on the grass. The parties looked as though they had been there for hours, enjoying many a tasty beverage. The sickly stench of cannabis made passing through them in 33°C heat stomach churning. The many signs prohibiting swimming were being ignored by young and old alike. The river was flowing quickly and swimming is banned to stop drownings.
Avoid this park when it's hot and dry, the staff don't care and neither do a lot of the users, so you may end up witnessing a tragedy. As someone who has, nobody needs that.

Nice walk in the rain.
The cafe has moved into the bigger building opposite and are dog friendly. Were able to cater for 9 of us with no problems.

Can really recommend Ty Mawr for a visit - there is a lovely pram friendly walk with llamas and petting zoo plus a man made beach for river paddling and picnic benches / café. The main loop is perfect distance for little legs but only 1.5 miles further to the aqueduct (Carriers only). A great play park and it’s only £1 parking for the day.

What a beautiful place. Can’t believe I’ve never been before. Lovely park, animals, the most gorgeous walk and then ice cream at the hut on the way back. A must visit.

What a great place for a walk and play for the kids. Parking was really cheap, lovely views and walk along the river with a little animal area at the end. Highly recommended for a cheap few hours

We visited this park for the first time and were very impressed. Considering it’s free entry (except the small £1 parking fee) we thought it was great, the views are amazing and the walk along the river Dee spectacular. There are ample picnic tables and almost all had a fantastic view. Our kids loved the little petting zoo (especially the guinea pigs) I heard there were llamas and there was a sign in a paddock about them but they didn’t seem to be there so not sure if they’ve gone elsewhere, or if they were just hidden from view when we went but my daughter was a little disappointed they weren’t there and this would have been the icing on the cake so i hope they make a return soon!
The kids playground is very good and the toilets were very clean and tidy with excellent baby change facilities.
There is also a sweet little cake shop that also sells sandwiches and coffees etc.
Had we not had our young kids and a pram we’d have definitely walked up to the aqueduct as well and this is something we’ll definitely do if we go again on our own or when the kids are a bit older as it was only 1.5 miles from the main walk.

We came here after visiting Chirk Castle, it was a nice way to round off the day. We took a walk up to the aqueduct, and found that the place was swarming with people, it is not covid safe at all, people are literally shoulder to shoulder with you as they pass you on the aqueduct. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the views, we enjoyed the walk around the country park, we didn't see many animals, however it was still good none the less.

Lovely country park. We walked upto the aquaduct which is definitely worth a visit. The café is lovely which sells sandwiches, excellent coffee and cake!

Lovely day for a family meeting. Plenty of space for the children and dog to run around and a playground for the little ones. They loved throwing sticks into the river and watching them sail away 😀 Toilets are closed at the moment due to the current crisis but parking was free and special thanks to the lady at the café who served us ice lollies(and a spare sausage for the dog) although she was just closing.😍

We would like to find somewhere near here for a family gathering on Christmas day. BBQ, picnic, gazebo, etc for 11 people. Are there picnic benches and a car park available that we could use ?

Yes you can take dogs, the rules about leads are very relaxed, there are signs posted before you enter an area where your dog is to kept on a lead and another sign tells you when your dog can be off the lead.

Yes there are good walks through the country park up onto the aqueduct and follow the canal, can walk for miles only Robles is, unless you choose to walk back along the busy road you have to walk the same way back.
What facilities are there for disabled

The paths are all wide enough for disabled access, however they are quite steep coming back from the river..not sure if there is a disabled toilet but I presume there would be
