We travelled to Cabo Pulmo over dirt roads. The signage was easy to follow and roads were in good condition. We found lovely soft white beaches with nice snorkeling conditions. Be prepared to bring your own lunch and beers in a cooler, as it it is a bit remote. But there are some little restaurants a ways down the beach where the snorkeling and diving boats are. It was our favorite beach in this area

Snorkel tour was awesome! Had a great captain and snorkel tour. Fab lunch afterwards at location. Trip was long but had a private driver to take us to and from resort.

Lo mejor que puedes hacer en toda Baja California. Excelente sitio de buceo. Playas limpias sin aglomeraciones. El acceso no está asfaltado pero no está malo

Certainly a place, off the beaten path, to visit when in the Cabo area. Car rental is an easy trip up the coast road (load your map on GPS first). Suggest a SUV for the trip. Snorkeling is great and there’s a nice beach walk - over many millions of pebbles.

Totally amazing experience! Wish I could post video. We saw a mom and baby Humpback Whale breach several times! We also snorkeled with Sea Turtles and Sea lions and saw many sharks from the boat. Best tour ever. We took the Cabo Pulmo Eco Adventures and so very glad we did. Yamille and driver very good. Have pics of everything else we saw too.

To get to Cabo pulmo without your own car........Take the Agila bus from San Jose to La Paz or the other way around. ......Buy a ticket until Las Cuevas, ( 170 pesos) 500 meters from the las Cuevas bus stop you will find the turn to get to Ribiera and ultimately Cabo pulmo ( dead end) There, is a good place to hitch a ride, took me 5 minutes to get a ride to a gas station in Ribiera and 5 more minutes to get a ride all the way to Cabo Pulmo....to come back......look for the primary school at the entrance of the village and do the same. You can catch the Aguila bus to either San Jose or LaPaz from Las Cuevas and just buy your ticket with the driver. but there are only 3 buses a day in either direction....so try to time it.......Have fun......

Todavía es un lugar casi virgen, es una maravilla y responsabilidad de todos conservarlo. Hay una comunidad de amantes del ecosistema dedicada a atender al turismo con responsabilidad y gran vocación por cuidar la reserva. Es un privilegio haber tenido la oportunidad de visitar este paraíso.

I had previously visited Cabo Pulmo in 2018 when it fully deserved 5 stars. I spent 6 days diving, and visited the top dive sites multiple times and the schooling jacks 3 times.
My return in late November 2021 showed things have changed. The number of dive operators has more than doubled, this means that the prime sites are 'dived out' quicker. When a site has reached the permitted number of divers in a given day/week/4 week period it is closed to all diving for a period. I was present in Cabo Pulmo for 9 days, in that period the shipwreck El Vencedor (where you are most likely to see the bull sharks) was open for one day. To manage the increased number of divers the lesser sites have been subdivided into different sites. This means that you are much less likely to dive on a prime site. Additionally, you will be confined at that less that super site, you won't move more than a little because you would encroach on another dive group.
Havin seen the best of Cabo Pulmo I can say that it can provide exceptional dives, bull sharks, schooling fish, the jack school. However, in Nov 2021 even diving on the best sites was difficult. The growth of operators and diver numbers means that the experience isn't what it was. When you consider that dives may be cancelled if it is too windy (late Nov, Dec and Jan in particular) and visibility isn't guaranteed (at its worst it was 4m in Nov 2021 and averaged about 7m on my dives) you can appreciate that scoring a great cabo pulmo experience is a bit of a lottery, now more than ever.
When you consider that cabo pulmo is remote and the last 6 miles or so are on unmade roads you can't just stop by on a whim. If you really want to see the best sites you'll need decent visibility (Nov,Dec,Jan), but it gets windy in Dec/Jan. You'll need to be present for at least 4 days. I wouldn't prebook my diving as there are plenty of operators looking for customers and the visibility cannot be guaranteed. It can be excellent, but it can be mediocre.
The dive providers will all do their best to ensure you have a great dive, but site access appears outside their ability to easily influence. So in summary don't expect it to be amazing, it probably won't be, but it just might be the best dive you've had in ages.

In a natural preserve, you can see sharks, schools of Jacks among others. Nice diving shops, around 20 of them? Snorkeling options as well.

In one day went to 4 sites. Would snorkel it or dive it again. Saw Eagle Rays, Humpback Whales, many turtles, tons of fish, moray eels, bait balls, live rock and corals, and much, much more.
I think it is a good idea to book two outings in one day to make it a full day, OR stay the night and go out the next day. Long trip, very much worth it.
I was out in the reserve for 3.5 hours. Wished it was 8.

En Cabo Pulmo la verdad es que hay pocas actividades para niños ya que todo se basa en la l buceo. Pero la playa siempre está ahí. A unos 30 kms tienes Los Barriles que es más grande aunque el camino es de tierra durante un buen trecho

Yes. Boats are necessary to access the nearshore reefs. No beach diving. The only good near-shore snorkeling spot is south of town.

You can contact Cabo Pulmo Sport Center. They have fishing trips that will take you outside of the park. The park itself is a protected marine preserve and those that live there help to keep up the rules.
One of the closest fishing areas however is just a little bit south at the beach at Los Frailes.
Hello, Is it possible to snorkel from the beach to good locations, or is it worth it to pay $60 - $75 per person for a guided snorkel tour on a boat? 2 of us are going scuba diving, and 2 just want to snorkel. They have their own mask, fins, and snorkels, so it would save a lot to just go from the beach. However, they are not very strong swimmers, and wouldn't want to go too far or deep either.

As far as I can tell, there is no reason not to drive to Cabo Pulmo (the village) and just walk out on the beach, and head south. You'll see the reef fingers, they come up to the beach, and doesn't cost anything. I've done it.
Is overnight camping allowed within the Preserve? Are there areas to park an rv, if electricity/water hookups are not needed?

hola Lucia en diciembre pensamos ir con mi familia y quisiera saber si me recomiendan hacer mi reservación para snorquear ahora o esperar a hacerla directamente allá, me pudieran decir en cuanto esta el tour de snorquer por persona y si es cierto que hay agua mala?

There is absolutely no problem driving from either Cabo or La Paz but I would recommend a 4 wheel drive car as the 10km or so is a dirt track. We were in Mexico for 2 weeks and saw no crime whatsoever..

Yo verifique por internet y era mas caro, asi que lo contrate directamente al llegar en Cabo Pulmo, es una pequeña comunidad asi que lo contrate en la palapa que esta justo en la entrada principal de la playa, ellos me lo dejaron en 450 y la segunda vez que fui creo que fueron 500 hace 2 años, y solo hibamos 2 personas en la lancha, los chalecos eran de cierre super comodos y el snorkel muy bien. Yo no he tenido problema porque no haya espacio o disponibilidad, solo hay que verificar bien las condiciones climatologicas para asegurarte que el dia que vayas no te quedes sin hacer snorkel por el mal clima.
