Your guide needs to find the person with the key. The key holder led us on his motorbike and opened up for us. He loves showing it to people who are really interested in the history and art. The cave drawings are beautiful.

Las cuevas monasterio de Tilawkaguru son impresionantes.
Se tratan de pequeñas cuevas que en su interior tienen una impresionante y bella colección de Budas que te dejaran con la boca abierta.
Las paredes decoradas con unas pinturas impresionante mente bellas y a temporales.
Todo ello rodea este lugar de una atmósfera tan sanadora y pura que no querrás salir de allí.
En la subida hasta las cuevas es posible comprar souvenirs y snacks y bebidas frías.
Visitar en Taxi.

Fue lo mejor de la excursión a Sagain . Difícil de encontrar y mucho más de acceder. Gracias a nuestro tuk tuk driver (Way) que no dejó de preguntar y saltar vallas para encontrar cómo y quién nos podría llevar y abrir, pudimos acceder a este monasterio cueva que está cerrado y no tiene luz. Están restaurando las pinturas de su interior quizás por eso esté cerrado (agosto 2018). Una maravilla

Il complesso (in realtà una grotta singola) è davvero stupefacente: un po' isolato dai percorsi più battuti, regala splendide pitture parietali, davvero memorabili. L'unico problema sta nel fatto che è spesso chiuso al pubblico. Noi siamo stati decisamente fortunati, in quanto siamo stati adottati da una monaca che, pur non parlando inglese, ci ha condotto quasi casa per casa in tutto il quartiere alla ricerca del "key holder", che si è dimostrato molto disponibile e ci ha aperto il sito. Si entra con il biglietto cumulativo acquistabile a Mandalay. Nelle vicinanze, un monastero maschile molto frequentato.

Nothing great about this temple, compared to other temples in Myanmar,if you have the time visit it, it has some old religious murals but not well maintained.

To view the cave paintings, our guide got someone from the monastery to open up the door leading to the cave paintings. The interior is not very big, so unless you want to study the paintings, you only need a few minutes. The paintings are deteriorating, however, there are still beautiful colors and it is worth visiting and a refreshing change to visiting many temples. Tip the person who opens the door. We had to hunt for Buddha's footprint.

This cave was really fascinating!! The paintings/frescoes which are almost 400 years old are really well preserved. The paintings depicts scenes in Buddha's life.
The tricky bit is to find the key holder! Our driver helped us to locate the office of the caretaker.
We had our own flashlights which are a must to visit the caves, if you do not have one the caretaker who has the key will lend you one.
Once inside we saw a monk who was very curious and asked us lots of questions such as how long did it you to come here from your house, what job we had.... Then the monk showed us around and he was very proud and happy!
Do not miss the Buddha footprint on a small ceiling.
Taking photographs is allowed after paying a permit fee (like everywhere in Burma) but you must NOT use flash!!
Once again there are very few tourists that goes there hence the preservation of the meditating cave, to me it was a privilege to be able to enjoy it.

A rarely visited attraction in Sagaing, at the Southern base of the hill. A fascinating complex of tunnels covered with vibrant paintings from the 1600's. Someone will be on hand to unlock the door which leads into the hillside. Flash photography isn't allowed. You may just be able to get some photographs with the candles & torches provided. I highly recommend trying to find this place, the colours were so bright and the art so detailed - amazing to think it was painted 400 years ago.
