Must visit temple at Kannur.

What an ancient historically important temple, a must visit preferably on a Saturday to witness the performance of Kaliattam. Free lunch ia also served to all the devotees.
We stayed at Kairali heritage Resorts and enjoyed the boat ride along the Katampally River.

A family run temple

Oorpazhassi kavu temple is a very quaint ancient temple located at Edakkab mid way between Kannur and Thalassery.
Every afternoon there is a vellattom in this family run temple.Annadhanam/ serving of lunch is offered free to the devotees. Those interested in offering can do so in the box kept for accepting donations towards Annadhanam.

The temple has dieties of Devathar, Vettakorumakan, Bhagavathi and Thondachan. Vellattam is held every noon in font of the shrine of thondachan. Family members of this temple and devotees gather to witness the Vellattam.

We went with no expectations/ idea about this temple but returned very happy listening/ watching the entire process.

The trustees ensure that devotees leave only after have a meal before they leave.
Food was very tasty and satisfying

You will feel the divine presence in every sand particle at this place. Attending Vellattom (every day -12.30 PM to 1.30 PM )and Kaliyattom (Not every day as its performed based on someones offering-- 12.30 AM to 2,30 AM--Midnight) -- (ritualistic oracle dances) , will touch you spiritually and enchant your senses.
