The waterfall at Rockwood is dangerous to get to specially for those over 60. The forest department should do something to make it easy to enjoy the falls. Even the stream, one has to be careful.

Not as good as the website looks.

We were excited to go to Shendurny. The Website looked so good! The experience didn't live up to the promise. We couldn't stay in the accommodation we wanted because they were reserved for Indian Nationals. The hut we could stay in (the Koodu) was very basic, and access was very, very difficult. The hut was visited by a wild animal (probably a rodent) during the night. We booked our trip as a package, so we didn't realise how cheap our accommodation was.

It seems like some of the attractions don't open on Mondays. Very little English is spoken, so brush up on your Malayalam.

Two stars because the staff were so good to us. The manager was really, really helpful. It was fun to get away from international tourism. We feel that we experienced Kerala fully at Shendurny, especially in the little family diners and food stalls.

A very thrilling and fascinating experience. Stayed in the top hut for a night. Friendly staffs. Jose Chetan our driver was very friendly and helpful. Amazing to look at wild elephants in such close quarters

"the right place to explore the flora and fauna of the forest"

Shenduruny Wildlife Sanctuary on Kollam - Shengottai Road is the right place to spent some time in the forest and explore the various flora and fauna. A trekking through the forest is a good opportunity to relax, breat some fresh air, see rare species of plants and trees and animals like deer, monkey etc and many were lucky in seeing wild elephants and tigers. Even if we don't see wild animals like elephants and tigers, spending a day in the wildlife sanctuary will make our mind fresh and we really enjoyed the trip. The forest officials were very helpful and actually they need special appreciation for guiding everyone.

Recently, I went with my family(wife and kids)members. We took ticket for 200(100 Rupees for head for leisure echo tourism) Rupees. But Not worth. There is no worth to money. We took ticket deer park at Ottakkal. Ticket price is 20 for head. It is ok. But, From Ticket counter to park 2 kilo meters. We have to walk and autowala is asking 30 rupees. There is no vehicle arrangement from main ticket counter to Deer park. Better, if you have own vehicle, you can go to deer park.Otherwise,Money and time waste. Thenmala echo tourism board collecting more and more money.

This is a unique oppertunity for any one to visit Shenduruny wildlife sanctuary. In the Shenduruny forest there many species of wild animals and it is possible to see wild elephants and if lucky tigers and other animals.It got its name from the unique tree found there only, Shenduruny which has medical properties The forest department has recently opened the forest to visitors for a day's stay in the centre of the wild, which is an experience that will keep you strong for a long time.

Verdant forest

Kerala forest department deserves to be praised for its efforts to promote eco tourism. I have to mention about the program co-ordinator Sudha who seems to have limitless energy and enthusiasm. You are chaperoned by forest guards. If you are hell bent on seeing wildlife, you are bound to be disappointed. You have to soak in the beauty of the place and leave it to your luck. I just did not find anything except for my blood being sucked by leeches !. The ride by tuk tuk for a long time inside the periphery of the forest is irritating.
