I stopped by Okazaki Park when I went to see the wisteria trellis. Although Ieyasu was born, it was restored with reinforced concrete in the Showa era, so it has little dignity.

It seems to be a castle related to Ieyasu, but it looks like this.

This is more of a museum chronicling the castle, the castle grounds, and Okazaki more generally and their role during the Tokugawa period (and along Tokaido road). That is, you aren't "touring a castle" when you come here, even though the museum is in the castle. But it is still extremely interesting, informative and well worth a trip. Tokugawa Ieyasu was born here and you learn a lot about his life, as well as how the castle functioned, why it was built where it was built, and how feudalism worked during this period of Japanese history. Its a beautiful building, and they have a cool well out front in the shape of a turtle. Highly recommend.

Okazaki Castle, known as the castle where Ieyasu was born, is also selected as one of Japan's 100 Great Castles.
The castle tower was restored in 1960, but it was so beautiful that it seemed like a recent restoration. There was a lot to see inside the castle tower and the exhibits in the adjacent Ieyasu Museum, so it was fun.
A combined admission ticket for the castle tower and Ieyasu Museum costs 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for children. It's only 100 yen more expensive for adults and 50 yen more for children than just the castle tower, so I recommend visiting the Ieyasu Museum as well. There are several other things to see in Okazaki Park, so I stayed there for just under two hours.
I visited on a weekend just before noon, and the parking lot (150 yen per 30 minutes) was large and easy to park in.

We visited Okazaki Park for cherry blossom viewing and also visited the Okazaki Castle tower. Admission is 300 yen per adult. The tower is a five-story structure, and you go up and down the stairs, there is no elevator. The second and third floors were very informative, with exhibits on the history and characteristics of Okazaki Castle, as well as a diorama of the castle town. There were also exhibits unique to this area, such as Hatcho miso and Mikawa fireworks, which was great.
From the top floor, you can get a 360-degree view of the area around the tower. The view was great, but the passage was very narrow and cramped. After you've finished looking around, you can go to the Ieyasu Museum for detailed exhibits on Ieyasu, and there is a tourist souvenir shop in the park, so I recommend stopping by both to buy souvenirs.

This is the castle where Tokugawa Ieyasu, the "God's Prince," who is the protagonist of this year's taiga drama "What Will Ieyasu Do?", was born.
It is about a 15-minute walk from Meitetsu Higashi-Okazaki Station.
The castle ruins have been turned into a castle park, and within the park you can find the three-story, five-story reconstructed castle tower that forms the centerpiece, as well as the "Mikawa Bushi no Yakata Ieyasukan," which is used as the "What Will Ieyasu Do? Okazaki Taiga Drama Museum" during the taiga drama period, and Ryujo Shrine, making it an area well worth walking around and looking at.
Inside the castle tower, there are exhibits on the history of the Matsudaira family, from which Tokugawa Ieyasu was born, the period when Ieyasu was active, and the history of the Okazaki domain, which ruled this area during the Edo period.

This is an important location that appears in historical dramas.
It was a large post town at the time, and Okazaki Castle Town is also large, with a lot of traditional industrial culture that is still passed down to this day.
It is vast, stretching about 1.5km from east to west and 1km from north to south.
The inside has been beautifully renovated and only displays items from the time, but there is still much to see.
There are also swords and artifacts unearthed from excavations, so it is worth a look.
On the top floor of the castle tower, you can experience ukiyo-e printing.

Shibakawa Local History Research Group "Visit Okazaki, a place associated with Ieyasu!" We visited on a bus tour for the first time in three years. I've been to Okazaki many times in the past, but I'd forgotten if I'd visited the castle, so I think this was the first time. After looking at the Taiga Drama Museum, we went up to Okazaki Castle. There are many tourists from overseas, including groups from the Taipei Lions Club, who visit the castle. The castle is relatively small, but the view from the top floor is spectacular.

その昔は巨大な山城だったそうですが、
現在は、街中にあるこじんまりとした平城に
なってしまって幹線道路に面しています。
駐車場は方向が悪かったのか、右手にお城を見ながら、左折して大回りしました。
標識見てたら行けますが、、
昔の山城の名残のある場所もあり、
裏側から見たらかなり高い石垣で堀も、あります。
天守閣と立派な櫓門と小さい櫓が残ってるぐらいですが、地形は起伏に富み、歩くのが楽しいです。
小さな天守閣とは言え美しい天守閣です。
中は資料館となってるそうですが、
閉館時間で行けなくて残念でした。
今は、神社と公園と大河のドラマ館ができていました。人気のせいか新しいお土産物の
店もあり、どうする家康の限定品など色々売っていました。
カラクリ時計や花時計もあり、
写真スポットの何ヶ所かはスマホ台も設置されていました。
天守閣の近くに高級そうな飲食店もあり、
神社もあり、、茶店や土産屋、、
お城の中なのに、、、
色々盛りだくさんなお城でした。
天守閣やドラマ館をゆっくり見て回りたかったです。

Hi hi,
Like in all Japanese castles they do not allow for photography for the more valued collections. You will see the notice at one-corner. But at Level 1 and entrance they have some display that is allowed.
[but I also guilt of snapping a few using hp..]
