We are sorry that you did not enjoy your visit. The Gallery opened in the converted Wesleyan Chapel in 1962 - so for nearly 60 years visitors have enjoyed this small, atmospheric space. It was much refurbished in 2010. We survive on the entry fee paid by our visitors, sales from our small shop, the occasional grant and the sheer hard work of our volunteers. The current exhibition reunites two of his last self-portraits for the first time since their creation in 1959 - the year of his death. Shown with his very earliest known self-portrait they make an important statement about his progression as an artist and a man. Also shown are other fine portraits he painted on commission. We change exhibitions every six months - so hope perhaps on your next trip to the area you will return to enjoy a further selection of his works.
